Material Use:
TRAFIKROCK and TRAFIKROCK STARTER are SBS-modified bitumen waterproofing membranes designed specifically for civil engineering structures, particularly for use on parking decks. These membranes provide a durable, heat-welded waterproofing solution for horizontal and vertical surfaces exposed to vehicular traffic and environmental stress.
System Components:
The TRAFIKROCK waterproofing system consists of two main components:
- TRAFIKROCK STARTER: A base membrane with a 75 mm (3 in) selvedge on each side, used as the initial layer in the system.
- TRAFIKROCK: The main waterproofing membrane applied over the starter layer.
Both membranes are reinforced with non-woven polyester and have a top surface covered with sienna-colored mineral granules and a thermofusible plastic film on the underside.
The system requires the use of a primer prior to membrane installation. Acceptable primers include ANTIROCK PRIMER or ANTIROCK EMULSION PRIMER.
Applications:
This system is ideal for waterproofing parking decks and other civil engineering structures where a robust, traffic-resistant membrane is required. It is suitable for both horizontal surfaces and vertical upstands, including areas that are difficult to access with automated equipment.
Application Details:
- Installation Method: Heat-welded using propane torch or automated equipment (Macaden or Mini-Macaden).
- Surface Preparation: Substrates must be dry, clean, and primed with ANTIROCK PRIMER or ANTIROCK EMULSION PRIMER.
- Surface Profile Requirement: Concrete surfaces must meet ICRI CSP 3 to 6 profile, achieved by shotblasting with steel balls.
- Lap Joints: Side laps must be a minimum of 75 mm (3 in), and end laps a minimum of 150 mm (6 in).
- Membrane Thickness: 4.5 mm nominal for both TRAFIKROCK and TRAFIKROCK STARTER.
- Dimensions: Standard roll size is 8 m x 1 m (26 ft x 3.3 ft); TRAFIKROCK is also available in 200 m x 1 m rolls upon request.
- Weight: Each roll weighs approximately 45 kg (99 lb).
Special Notes:
- Temperature Tolerance: The membranes maintain flexibility down to -20 °C, making them suitable for cold climates.
- Mechanical Properties: High tensile strength (17.0 / 11.5 kN/m MD/XD) and elongation (50% / 65% MD/XD) ensure durability under stress.
- Puncture Resistance: Static puncture resistance is rated at 215 N, providing excellent protection against mechanical damage.
- Storage: Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top. If stored outdoors, they must be covered with an opaque protective cover after removing the delivery packaging.
- UV Resistance: The mineral granule surface provides UV protection, making the membrane UV-resistant after installation.
- Compatibility: TRAFIKROCK STARTER must be used in conjunction with TRAFIKROCK as part of a complete system.
- Primers: Only ANTIROCK PRIMER or ANTIROCK EMULSION PRIMER should be used to ensure proper adhesion and performance.
