Description

Super Skin Systems JointSeal is a 2-component 100% solids, zero VOC, elastomeric polyurea sealing system designed to act as a crack filler for use with large to small to large cracks in concrete, masonry and other cementitious substrates. This material provides exceptional adhesion characteristics and fast cure times. It is highly chemical resistant, insensitive to water, abrasion resistant and remains thermally stable in a range of -20°F (-29 C) to 250°F (125 C). It may be used under traditional floor coatings or any of our top-coating materials. Joint Seal is used in heavy traffic warehouse floors, refrigeration floors, chemical spill prone floors, pothole road repair or under ceramic tile floors. Joint seal is also designed to be used on expansion joints.

Material Use:

JointSeal is a two-component, 100% solids, zero VOC, elastomeric polyurea used as a crack filler and joint sealer for concrete, masonry, and cementitious substrates. It is suitable for large and small cracks, expansion joints, and surface repairs where high flexibility and durability are needed.

System Components:

JointSeal is used as a standalone joint and crack sealing system. It is compatible with various top-coating materials offered by the same manufacturer, Super Skin Systems. For color pigmentation, it may be tinted by adding pigment to Part-B before mixing. No primer is mentioned as necessary, though surface prep is critical.

Applications:

  • Expansion joints
  • Warehouse floors
  • Parking decks
  • Cold storage and refrigeration floors
  • Food-processing plants
  • Walkways and balconies
  • Bridges and airports
  • Naval ship decks
  • Under ceramic tile and as a repair solution for potholes and spalls

Application Details:

  • Mix Ratio: 1A:1B by volume
  • Pot Life / Gel Time: 1–3 minutes
  • Tack-Free Time: 5–8 minutes
  • Application Temperature Range: Surface must be between 20°F and 150°F; material should be at least 70°F before application
  • Application Technique: Material should be overfilled into joints and shaved level after curing for 30 minutes. Joints over 1” in depth must be filled in two passes.
  • Equipment: Applied via plural component pump, hand mixing, or dual cartridges. Hose heating is optional unless in low temperatures.

Special Notes:

  • Coverage: Linear feet per gallon depends on joint dimensions (see table on page 1). For example, a ¼” wide by ¼” deep joint yields ~308 linear feet/gallon.
  • Thickness Limitation: Depths over 1” require multiple passes. Control joints should not exceed 25% slab depth when using backer rod.
  • UV Resistance: JointSeal is aromatic polyurea and may yellow/chalk under UV exposure. A darker color is recommended for better color retention. For strict color stability, consult the manufacturer for alternatives.
  • Chemical and Abrasion Resistance: High; designed for harsh environments.
  • Temperature Resistance After Cure: -20°F to 250°F
  • Elongation: 300% ± 50%
  • Hardness: 95 ± 5 Shore A
  • Shelf Life: 6 months at 60–95°F; avoid freezing
  • Storage: Store off the ground, rotate containers regularly, and use desiccant devices during dispensing.
  • Surface Prep: Requires clean, dry, 28-day cured concrete; follows ASTM and ICRI prep standards.
