Description
Prolong the lifetime of concrete and masonry around your home with LOXON® Self-Cleaning Acrylic. This product is formulated to be self-cleaning by shedding dirt upon rain or water contact and has excellent weathering protection including resistance to UV. No need to prime first, LOXON® Self-Cleaning Acrylic can be applied directly to bare or previously coated concrete and is available in a flat sheen that can be tinted to a wide range of colors to keep your home looking great!
Material Use
This coating is specifically engineered for exterior, above-grade masonry surfaces, providing high-performance protection with enhanced water shedding and dirt pick-up resistance. It is suitable for a wide range of substrates including concrete, masonry, stucco, EIFS, wood, and properly prepared metal surfaces. Ideal for applications where aesthetics and durability against environmental exposure are paramount.
System Components
- Self-Priming: On concrete, masonry, stucco, and EIFS surfaces with 2 coats of Loxon.
- Primers (if needed):
- Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer
- Loxon Conditioner
- Loxon Acrylic Block Surfacer or Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler for CMU/split-face block.
- Exterior Latex Primer for wood.
- Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Primer for metal.
- Topcoat: 2 coats of Loxon Self-Cleaning Acrylic Coating.
Applications
Applicable over a variety of substrates:
- Concrete, Masonry, Stucco, EIFS – Direct or primed applications.
- CMU, Block, Split-face Block – Requires block filler for pinhole-free surface.
- Wood – Must be primed.
- Metal – Requires rust and contaminant removal plus primer.
- Previously Painted Surfaces – After cleaning, apply 1–2 coats directly.
Application Details
- Temperature: Apply when air, surface, and material temperatures are above 35°F and at least 5°F above dew point.
- Humidity & Weather: Avoid application if rain or snow is expected within 2–3 hours or if temperatures may drop below 35°F within 48 hours.
- Tools: Airless spray (.017-.021 tip, 2000 psi), brush (nylon/polyester), or roller (1/2–3/4" synthetic nap).
- Film Thickness:
- Wet: 5–7 mils
- Dry: 2.0–2.8 mils
- Coverage:
- Smooth surfaces: 220–320 sq. ft./gal
- Porous/rough stucco: ~125 sq. ft./gal
- Dry Time @ 77°F, 50% RH:
- To touch: 4 hours
- To recoat: 24 hours
- No maximum recoat time
Special Notes
- UV Resistance: Contains agents to inhibit mildew; suitable for exterior use.
- Pot Life: Not specified; product is ready-to-use with a shelf life of 36 months unopened.

- Not designed for horizontal or below-grade applications.
- Cannot withstand hydrostatic pressure.
- Environmental Compliance: Low VOC (less than 50 g/L), compliant with LEED v4 VOC regulations.

- Excellent resistance to efflorescence, mildew, and alkali.
- Passes ASTM tests for flexibility, elongation (159%), tensile strength (224 psi), water vapor permeability, and wind-driven rain resistance.
