Description
Pro Industrial™ High-Performance Epoxy is formulated for use in industrial maintenance environments and high-performance architectural applications.
Material Use:
Pro Industrial High Performance Epoxy is a high-solids, two-component epoxy polyamine coating designed for industrial maintenance and high-performance architectural applications. It provides excellent chemical and abrasion resistance, making it suitable for environments requiring durability and cleanability, including USDA-inspected facilities.
System Components:
This epoxy system consists of two parts mixed in a 4:1 ratio (Part A to Part B). It may be used with various primers and surfacers depending on the substrate. The system can be built up with one or two coats of the epoxy, and in exterior applications, a UV-stable topcoat is recommended due to the epoxy’s tendency to chalk and fade when exposed to sunlight.
Applications:
Pro Industrial High Performance Epoxy is suitable for use on properly prepared steel, galvanized and aluminum surfaces, concrete and masonry, wood, and drywall. It is ideal for industrial floors, walls, structural steel, and other high-traffic or chemically exposed areas.
Application Details:
- Mix Ratio: 4 parts Part A to 1 part Part B by volume
- Pot Life: 2.5 hours at 50°F, 2 hours at 77°F, 1 hour at 100°F
- Dry Time (at 5 mils wet, 50% RH):
- Touch: 10 hrs (50°F), 8 hrs (77°F), 2 hrs (100°F)
- Tack Free: 10 hrs (50°F), 8 hrs (77°F), 5 hrs (100°F)
- Minimum Recoat: 36 hrs (50°F), 8 hrs (77°F), 5 hrs (100°F)
- Maximum Recoat: 30 days (all temperatures)
- Full Cure: 14 days (50°F & 77°F), 3 days (100°F)
- Application Temperature Range: 50°F to 110°F (air, surface, and material); at least 5°F above dew point
- Relative Humidity Limit: Maximum 85%
- Recommended Film Thickness:
- Wet: 5.0–10.0 mils
- Dry: 3.7–7.4 mils
- Coverage: 160–320 sq. ft. per gallon depending on thickness
- Theoretical Coverage: 1186 sq. ft. per gallon at 1 mil dry
- Application Methods: Airless spray (2800 psi, 0.017" tip), brush (nylon-polyester or natural bristle), or roller (1/4–3/8" woven with solvent-resistant core)
- Reducer: R7K54, up to 10% by volume if needed (not in restricted areas)
Primers and Compatible Systems:
- Steel:
- *Acrylic Primer:* 1 coat Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Primer
- *Solvent-Based Primer:* 1 coat Kem Bond HS
- Followed by 1–2 coats of Pro Industrial High Performance Epoxy
- Concrete Block:
- Use filler/surfacer as needed: Loxon Acrylic Block Surfacer, Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler, Kem Cati-Coat HS Epoxy Filler, or Cement-Plex 875
- Then apply 1–2 coats of epoxy
- Poured or Tilt-Up Concrete (including floors):
- 1–2 coats of epoxy directly
- Aluminum:
- 1 coat DTM Wash Primer or Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Primer
- 1–2 coats of epoxy
- Galvanized Metal:
- 1–2 coats of epoxy directly
- Interior Plaster and Drywall:
- 1 coat ProMar 200 Zero VOC Primer
- 1–2 coats of epoxy
- Wood:
- 1–2 coats of epoxy (self-priming)
Special Notes:
- This epoxy is not UV stable and will chalk and fade in exterior environments. A UV-stable topcoat is recommended for outdoor applications.
- Surface preparation is critical for performance. All surfaces must be clean, dry, and properly profiled.
- For steel, commercial blast cleaning (SSPC-SP6) is recommended for optimal adhesion.
- For aluminum and galvanized surfaces, solvent cleaning (SSPC-SP1) is required, and in some cases, brush blasting (SSPC-SP16) may be necessary.
- For concrete and masonry, follow SSPC-SP13/ICRI CSP 1-3 guidelines.
- Do not apply immediately after rain or during foggy weather.
- Shelf life: Part A – 12 months; Part B – 36 months
- VOC Content: 221 g/L (1.84 lbs/gal)
- Not compliant with SCAQMD or LEED v4 emissions standards
- Excellent chemical resistance to sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, motor oil, ammonia, IPA, methanol, and mineral spirits
This product is best used as part of a complete system tailored to the substrate and environmental conditions. It is ideal for industrial and commercial environments requiring high durability and chemical resistance.
