Description
Designed for interior and exterior use, Pro Industrial™ Industrial Enamel Alkyd is an all-purpose enamel with a durable color pigment system. Recommended industrial environment uses include properly prepared steel, concrete, wood, plaster, primed aluminum and galvanized steel.
Material Use:
Pro Industrial™ Industrial Enamel Alkyd Gloss is a high-gloss, medium-oil alkyd enamel designed for both interior and exterior applications. It is suitable for use in USDA-inspected facilities and offers good exterior durability, excellent application properties, and a high-gloss finish. This product is ideal for protecting and beautifying a wide range of substrates including steel, concrete, masonry, wood, plaster, and previously painted surfaces.
System Components:
This enamel is typically used as a topcoat in a multi-layer system. Depending on the substrate, it is applied over a compatible primer. The system generally includes:
- Primer: Varies by substrate (see below)
- Base Coat: Not applicable (this product is the finish coat)
- Finish Coat: 2 coats of Pro Industrial™ Industrial Enamel Alkyd Gloss

Application Details:
- Application Methods: Brush (natural bristle), roller (3/8" woven with solvent-resistant core), airless spray (2500 psi, 0.015" tip), or conventional spray (Binks 95 gun, 66 fluid nozzle, 63PB air nozzle)
- Recommended Wet Film Thickness: 4.5–9.0 mils
- Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 1.9–3.9 mils
- Coverage: 176–362 sq. ft. per gallon per coat (theoretical coverage at 1 mil dry is 689 sq. ft./gal)
- Mixing: Minimum 5 minutes on a mechanical shaker; deep tinted colors may burnish
- Cleanup: Use compliant solvent; flush spray equipment after use

- Exterior Wood: 1 coat Exterior Oil-Based Wood Primer + 2 coats Industrial Enamel
- Interior Wood: 1 coat Premium Wall & Wood Primer + 2 coats Industrial Enamel
- Wood Floors: 2 coats Industrial Enamel (no primer specified)
Environmental and Application Limitations:
- Temperature Range for Application: 40°F (4.4°C) to 120°F (49°C); must be at least 5°F above dew point
- Relative Humidity Limit: Maximum 85%
- Drying Times at 77°F / 50% RH (4.6 mils wet):
- To touch: 1–3 hours
- Tack free: 4–6 hours
- Recoat: 8 hours
- Full cure: 7 days
- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-component product)
- UV Resistance: Not specified; alkyds generally have limited UV resistance and may yellow over time
- Dry Heat Resistance: Up to 200°F
- Shelf Life: 36 months unopened

Special Notes:
- This product is not compliant with VOC regulations in regions such as OTC, SCAQMD, CARB, and Canada.
- Not LEED® v4 or v4.1 compliant for emissions or VOC.
- Not EPD-NSF® certified or MPI® listed.
- Deep tinted colors may exhibit burnishing.
- Not recommended for use where UV stability is critical unless topcoated with a UV-stable product.
- Surface preparation is critical for performance; follow SSPC standards for metal substrates and ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and properly primed.
- Do not thin or reduce the product unless specified.
- Rags and waste soaked with this product may spontaneously combust; dispose of properly in a sealed, water-filled metal container.
This product is best suited for industrial and commercial environments where a durable, high-gloss finish is required on metal, masonry, or wood surfaces. It performs well in moderate environments but may require additional UV protection for prolonged exterior exposure.
