Intended for interior/exterior use in industrial environments, Pro Industrial™ Industrial Enamel HS Alkyd is easy to apply by brush, roll or spray. Recommended industrial environment uses include properly prepared steel, concrete, wood, plaster, and primed aluminum and galvanized steel.

Material Use:

Pro Industrial™ Industrial Enamel HS is a high-solids, alkyd-based, high-gloss topcoat designed for both interior and exterior applications in industrial and marine environments. It is suitable for use on a variety of substrates including steel, concrete, masonry, wood, plaster, and previously painted surfaces. This product is ideal for use in new construction and maintenance projects where a durable, glossy finish is required.

System Components:

This material is typically used as a topcoat in a multi-layer coating system. Depending on the substrate, it is applied over a compatible primer. The system generally includes:

- Primer: Varies by substrate (see below)

- Topcoat: 2 coats of Pro Industrial™ Industrial Enamel HS

- Concrete Block: Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler

- Interior Drywall: ProMar® 200 Zero VOC Primer

- Interior Plaster & Poured Concrete: Loxon® Concrete and Masonry Primer

- Exterior Wood: Exterior Oil-Based Wood Primer

- Interior Wood: Premium Wall & Wood Primer

Application Details:

- Application Methods: Brush, roller, or airless spray

- Recommended Film Thickness:

- Wet: 3.5–7.0 mils

- Dry: 2.0–4.1 mils

- Coverage: 230–473 sq. ft. per gallon (theoretical coverage at 1 mil dry is 946 sq. ft./gal)

- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-component product)

- Drying Times at 4.0 mils wet, 50% RH:

- 45°F: Touch – 6 hrs, Handle – 14 hrs, Recoat – 24 hrs, Full Cure – 14 days

- 77°F: Touch – 4 hrs, Handle – 10 hrs, Recoat – 16 hrs, Full Cure – 7 days

- 120°F: Touch – 2 hrs, Handle – 6 hrs, Recoat – 24 hrs, Full Cure – 4 days

- Temperature Range for Application: 40°F (4.4°C) to 120°F (49°C), with surface at least 5°F above dew point

- Relative Humidity Limit: Maximum 85%

- Reducer: No reduction necessary

- Spray Equipment Settings:

- Pressure: 1800 psi

- Tip Size: 0.017–0.019 inch

- Filter: 60–100 mesh

- Brush/Roller Recommendations:

- Brush: Natural bristle (e.g., Purdy® White Bristle)

- Roller: 1/4–3/8 inch lambswool or synthetic with solvent-resistant core

Special Notes:

- This product is not UV-stable and may yellow over time when exposed to sunlight.

- Not compliant with certain regional VOC regulations (e.g., SCAQMD, CARB SCM 2007/2020, LEED v4).

- Shelf life is 36 months unopened.

- Flash point is 103°F (PMCC).

- Volume solids: 60 ±2%; Weight solids: 73 ±2%

- Clean tools and equipment with compliant solvent immediately after use.

- Rags and waste soaked with this product may spontaneously combust; dispose of properly in a sealed, water-filled metal container.

- For best results, stripe coat welds, crevices, and sharp angles before full application.

- Deep tinted colors may exhibit burnishing and should be tested for color accuracy before use.

- Not recommended for use in areas requiring LEED or EPD-NSF certification.

- Dry Heat Resistance: Up to 200°F (ASTM D2485)

- Abrasion Resistance: 70 mg loss (ASTM D4060)

- Adhesion: 738 psi (ASTM D4541)

- Flexibility: Passes 1/8 inch mandrel bend (ASTM D522)

- Corrosion Resistance: Rating 8 for corrosion, 7 for blistering after 10 cycles (ASTM D5894)

- Humidity Resistance: Rating 10 for corrosion, 2 for blistering after 500 hours (ASTM D4585)

- Pencil Hardness: 6B (ASTM D3363)

- Impact Resistance: 100 inch-lbs (ASTM D2794)

This product is a durable, high-gloss alkyd enamel suitable for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. It performs best when used as part of a complete system with appropriate primers and surface preparation.
