Description
Pro Industrial™ Waterborne Acrylic Dryfall is designed for professional airless spray application to interior ceilings and wall areas that are not subject to wear. With proper height/clearance, overspray is dry before it settles on floors, machinery or equipment. The dry overspray can then be easily removed by sweeping or by vacuum. The bright, full-hiding, white can increase an area’s lighting efficiency.
Material Use:
Pro Industrial™ Waterborne Acrylic Dryfall Flat is a high-performance, water-based acrylic coating designed for professional airless spray application on interior ceilings and upper wall areas that are not subject to physical wear. It is particularly suited for industrial, commercial, and institutional environments where overspray control is critical. The product is engineered to dry rapidly in the air and fall as a dry powder, allowing for easy cleanup of overspray from floors and equipment.
System Components:
This coating system may include various primers and surface conditioners depending on the substrate. The system typically consists of:
- Primer (as required by substrate): Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Primer, Pro Industrial DTM Primer-Finish, Pro Industrial Kem Bond HS, Zinc Clad Primer, Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer, Loxon Conditioner, Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler, Loxon Acrylic Block Surfacer, Premium Wall & Wood Primer, or Pro Industrial Bond-Plex Waterbased Acrylic.
- Topcoat: 1–2 coats of Pro Industrial Waterborne Acrylic Dryfall Flat.
Applications:
This product is ideal for use in:
- Warehouses
- Manufacturing facilities
- Gymnasiums
- Parking garage ceilings (not exposed to direct weathering)
- Textile mills
- Institutional and commercial buildings
It is suitable for application on properly prepared substrates including structural steel, galvanized metal, aluminum, drywall, plaster, concrete, masonry, wood, and fully cured spray foam insulation.
Application Details:
- Application Method: Airless spray is the recommended method. Conventional spray is also acceptable. Brush and roller application are not recommended.
- Spray Equipment Settings:
- Airless: 2000 psi, ¼" hose, 0.013–0.017" tip, 60 mesh filter
- Conventional: Binks 95 gun, 63C fluid nozzle, 63FB air nozzle, 60 psi atomization pressure, 50 psi fluid pressure
- Reducer: Water (if needed, though reduction is not recommended)
- Surface Preparation: Substrates must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants. Specific preparation varies by substrate and may include hand tool cleaning, solvent cleaning, sanding, or priming. Refer to SSPC standards where applicable.
- Film Thickness:
- Wet: 6.0–9.0 mils
- Dry: 1.9–2.9 mils
- Coverage: 176–270 sq. ft. per gallon per coat (based on application thickness); theoretical coverage is 513 sq. ft. per gallon at 1 mil dry film thickness.
- Dry Fall Characteristics: Overspray dries in air and falls as powder within 10–15 feet depending on temperature.
Environmental and Application Conditions:
- Temperature Range: 50°F (10°C) to 110°F (43°C); surface, air, and material must be at least 5°F above dew point.
- Relative Humidity: Maximum 75%
- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-component water-based product)
- Drying Times at 7.0 mils wet / 50% RH:
- 55°F: Touch – 1 hr, Handle – 1.5 hrs, Recoat – 2 hrs, Full Cure – 1 day
- 77°F: Touch – 20 min, Handle – 45 min, Recoat – 1 hr, Full Cure – 3 hrs
- 110°F: Touch – 15 min, Handle – 30 min, Recoat – 1 hr, Full Cure – 2 hrs
- Dry Fall Out Distance: 10–15 ft depending on temperature
- UV Resistance: Not UV stable; for interior use only
- VOC Content: <50 g/L (0.42 lbs/gal), compliant with LEED v4 & v4.1, CARB, SCAQMD, and other environmental standards
Special Notes:
- This product is intended for professional use only and is not suitable for exterior applications or surfaces subject to wear.
- Overspray may adhere to hot surfaces; clean immediately to prevent bonding.
- During early drying stages (first 16–24 hours), the coating is sensitive to moisture, dew, and high humidity—plan application accordingly.
- Tinting is possible with up to 2 oz of CCE colorant per gallon, but color strength is not controlled—verify color before use.
- The product has a shelf life of 36 months in unopened containers.
- Clean tools and equipment with soap and warm water immediately after use. Flush spray equipment with compliant solvent to prevent rust.
This material is best used as a ceiling and upper wall coating in large interior spaces where overspray control and light reflectance are important. It is not designed for high-traffic or exterior surfaces. When used with the appropriate primers and surface preparation, it forms a complete system suitable for a wide range of substrates.
