Material Use:
ALSAN CIVIL 370 is a two-component, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)-based, clear liquid resin designed for use as a topcoat in PMMA-based waterproofing systems. It is primarily used in the ALSAN CIVIL LIGHT system and other PMMA systems that do not require an asphalt layer. When combined with ALSAN RS COLOR ADDITIVE, it forms a durable, coloured, UV-resistant topcoat suitable for waterproofing applications, particularly on bridges and other civil engineering structures.
System Components:
ALSAN CIVIL 370 is used in conjunction with the following components to form a complete waterproofing system:
- ALSAN RS COLOR ADDITIVE: Added to ALSAN CIVIL 370 at a ratio of 1.5 kg per 8.5 kg of resin to provide the desired colour.
- ALSAN RS CATALYST POWDER: Required to initiate the curing process. The amount of catalyst added depends on ambient temperature, ranging from 2% to 6% of the resin weight.
Applications:
This material is suitable for use as a topcoat in PMMA-based waterproofing systems, particularly in civil infrastructure such as bridges. It is designed for use in systems where a coloured, UV-resistant, and fast-curing top layer is required. ALSAN CIVIL 370 is ideal for applications where rapid return to service is critical and where exposure to UV and weathering is expected.
Application Details:
- Mixing Instructions: Mix the ALSAN CIVIL 370 resin thoroughly for 2–3 minutes before use. Add 1.5 kg of ALSAN RS COLOR ADDITIVE per 8.5 kg of resin and mix thoroughly. Catalyze only the amount of material that can be applied within 10–15 minutes. Add ALSAN RS CATALYST POWDER according to the temperature-specific mixing chart:
- 20–35 °C (68–95 °F): 2% catalyst (20 g per kg of resin)
- 10–20 °C (50–68 °F): 4% catalyst (40 g per kg of resin)
- 0–10 °C (32–50 °F): 6% catalyst (60 g per kg of resin)
- For temperatures below 0 °C (32 °F), consult SOPREMA.
- Application Method: Apply using rollers, brushes, or notched squeegees to a clean and prepared substrate. Spread evenly to achieve the desired thickness.
- Recommended Thickness: 0.51 mm (20 wet mils)
- Coverage: Approximately 0.047 kg/ft² or 210 ft² per 10 L kit (resin + color additive)
Special Notes:
- Pot Life: Approximately 15 minutes at 20 °C (68 °F)
- Rain-Proof Time: 30 minutes
- Set Time / Walkable / Next Layer: 60 minutes
- Full Cure Time: 3 hours
- Temperature Range for Application: 0 to 35 °C (32 to 95 °F). For applications below 0 °C, consult SOPREMA.
- UV Resistance: The cured product is UV-resistant, making it suitable for exposed applications.
- Storage: Store indoors at 0 to 25 °C (32 to 77 °F), away from heat and direct sunlight. Shelf life is approximately 12 months in original packaging.
- System Compatibility: ALSAN CIVIL 370 is compatible with other PMMA-based waterproofing systems and is typically used as the final topcoat layer in the ALSAN CIVIL LIGHT system.
