ALSAN CIVIL 773 is a two-component, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)-based waterproofing liquid membrane designed for use in civil engineering applications. It is primarily used as a fleeceless waterproofing system for bridges, parking decks, and other concrete or steel structures. The product is highly flexible, even at low temperatures, and offers excellent crack-bridging and chemical resistance properties.

The ALSAN CIVIL 773 waterproofing system includes the following components:

- Primer: ALSAN CIVIL P70 is required for both concrete and steel substrates to ensure proper adhesion.

- Catalyst: ALSAN RS CATALYST POWDER is added to initiate the curing process. The amount varies depending on ambient temperature.

- Thickening Agent (for vertical applications): ALSAN TF 801 is used to increase the viscosity of ALSAN CIVIL 773 for vertical or detailed applications.

- Cleaner: ALSAN RS CLEANER is used for cleaning tools and equipment after application.

ALSAN CIVIL 773 is suitable for waterproofing horizontal and vertical surfaces in civil engineering structures such as:

- Parking decks

- Bridge decks

- Upstands and vertical concrete or steel elements

- Structural details requiring high flexibility and chemical resistance

- Substrate Preparation: Concrete must be cured for at least 28 days with a minimum compressive strength of 24 MPa (3,500 psi) and a surface profile of CSP 3 or 4 (ICRI). Steel must be prepared to SSPC-SP10 standards. All substrates must be primed with ALSAN CIVIL P70.

- Mixing: The resin must be mixed thoroughly before use. ALSAN RS CATALYST POWDER is added just before application, and only to the amount of resin that can be used within 10–15 minutes.

- Horizontal Application: Apply a first coat at a minimum wet film thickness of 2 mm (80 mils), followed by a second coat after 60 minutes at 1 mm (40 mils).

- Vertical Application: Mix ALSAN TF 801 into the resin before adding the catalyst. Apply at a minimum wet film thickness of 2–3 mm (80–120 mils), depending on project requirements.

- Coverage: At 40 mils, coverage is approximately 182 ft² per 20 kg container; at 80 mils, coverage is approximately 91 ft² per 20 kg container.

- Pot Life: Approximately 18 minutes at 23 °C (73 °F).

- Rain-Proof Time: 30 minutes at 23 °C (73 °F).

- Cure Time: 1 hour at 23 °C (73 °F).

- Application Temperature Range: -5 °C to 35 °C (23 °F to 95 °F). For applications outside this range, consult SOPREMA.

- Humidity Limitations: Substrate must be dry with a maximum moisture content of 5% (ASTM F2659), or 1.5 kg/100 m²/24 h (ASTM F1869), or 75% internal RH (ASTM F2170).

- Dew Point Consideration: Substrate temperature must be at least 3 °C (5.4 °F) above the dew point during application and curing.

- ALSAN CIVIL 773 is UV-resistant and maintains its performance under weathering and accelerated aging conditions (ASTM C957).

- The product exhibits excellent elongation (180%) and tensile strength (12.4 MPa), making it suitable for dynamic structures.

- It has high resistance to chloride ion penetration, water vapor transmission (0.2 perms), and chemical exposure (water, ethylene glycol, mineral spirits).

- The system passes peel adhesion tests after water immersion and shows no cracking after heat aging or low-temperature crack-bridging tests.

- ALSAN CIVIL 773 must be stored indoors at 0 °C to 25 °C (32 °F to 77 °F) and has a shelf life of 12 months in original packaging.

- For vertical applications, the viscosity of the resin can be adjusted by varying the amount of ALSAN TF 801 based on ambient temperature and applicator preference.
