ALSAN FOAM UNI W is a one-component, moisture-curing polyurethane (PU) foam designed for thermal and sound insulation in cold conditions. It is primarily used for fixing and insulating door and window frames, sealing joints, gaps, and cavities, as well as filling wall penetrations and insulating electrical outlets and water pipes. The foam is mold-proof, waterproof, and over-paintable, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.

ALSAN FOAM UNI W is a standalone product but can be used in conjunction with SOPREMA SOPRASEAL membranes and RESISTO smooth surface membranes for enhanced sealing and insulation around doors and windows. For cleaning the application gun during extended work interruptions, ALSAN FOAM CL-F cleaner is recommended.

This product is ideal for use in residential, commercial, and industrial construction where thermal and acoustic insulation is required. It adheres well to a wide range of construction materials including concrete, brick, wood, aluminum, galvanized steel, and steel cladding. It is also compatible with SOPREMA and RESISTO membranes, making it suitable for use in building envelope systems.

- Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants such as oil, grease, dust, and loose particles. Cement laitance must be removed. Porous surfaces should be lightly moistened with water before application.

- Application Temperature: The foam can be applied in ambient temperatures ranging from -25°C to 30°C (-13°F to 86°F). The optimal can temperature is around 20°C (68°F). If the can is too cold, it should be warmed in water (35–40°C / 95–104°F) for 40 minutes.

- Application Method: Shake the can well before use and regularly during application. Attach the can to a foam gun and apply with the can held upside down. For gaps larger than 1 inch, apply in multiple layers, allowing each layer to cure before applying the next.

- Yield: Approximately 60 liters (16 gallons) of foam per 850 ml can, depending on application technique, surface roughness, temperature, and humidity.

- Skinning Time: Approximately 6 minutes at 23°C (73°F) and 50% relative humidity.

- Curing Time: Full cure is achieved in approximately 24 hours under standard conditions (23°C / 73°F, 50% RH).

- Service Temperature Range: Once cured, the foam can withstand temperatures from -40°C to 80°C (-40°F to 176°F).

- Pot Life: Not applicable as this is a one-component, moisture-cured product.

- Fire Classification: Meets CAN/ULC-S710.1 Class 1.

- VOC Emissions: Complies with CAN/ULC-S774 with a time to occupancy of less than 20 days.

- Density: 19 kg/m³

- Tensile Strength: 50–100 kPa

- Open Cell Content: 30%

- Dimensional Stability: Less than 10% volume change under test conditions.

- ALSAN FOAM UNI W is not suitable for use on polyethylene (PE), silicone, or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) substrates.

- For short work interruptions (less than 48 hours), the can may remain attached to the gun, provided the gun’s back screw is tightened to maintain pressure.

- For longer interruptions, the gun should be cleaned with ALSAN FOAM CL-F to prevent hardening of the foam inside the tool.

- Store the product in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, at temperatures between 5°C and 25°C (41°F to 77°F). Shelf life is 24 months in unopened packaging.

- ALSAN FOAM UNI W is waterproof and mold-resistant, making it suitable for use in damp environments, though it is not intended for continuous water immersion.

- The foam expands during curing, so do not overfill gaps to avoid excessive pressure or deformation.

This product is a versatile and effective solution for insulation and sealing tasks in a wide range of construction and renovation projects, particularly in cold climates.
