Material Use:
ANTIROCK EMULSION PRIMER is a bituminous emulsion primer designed for use in civil engineering applications. It is specifically formulated to enhance the adhesion of ANTIROCK waterproofing membranes to concrete and metal substrates. This water-based, solvent-free primer is ideal for preparing surfaces prior to the installation of waterproofing systems on bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure projects.
System Components:
ANTIROCK EMULSION PRIMER is used as a preparatory component in conjunction with ANTIROCK waterproofing membranes. It is not a standalone waterproofing product but serves as a critical adhesion promoter within the ANTIROCK system. The primer is applied directly to the substrate before the membrane installation.

This primer is suitable for use on concrete and metal surfaces in civil engineering structures. Typical applications include bridge decks, parking structures, tunnels, and other infrastructure requiring durable waterproofing systems. It is particularly effective where ANTIROCK membranes are to be installed, ensuring optimal bonding and long-term performance.
Application Details:
Surface preparation is essential for effective application. Concrete surfaces must be cleaned and prepared to a Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) of 3, 4, or 5, as defined by the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI). Steel shot blasting is recommended to achieve the required profile and remove contaminants. The substrate must be clean, sound, dry, and free of grease, laitance, and loose materials. ANTIROCK EMULSION PRIMER can be applied using a brush, roller, or sprayer (note: airless spray systems are not suitable). The primer must be completely dry before the waterproofing membrane is applied. Drying time will vary depending on ambient temperature and humidity.

- Primer Compatibility: Specifically designed for use with ANTIROCK waterproofing membranes.
- Application Temperature: Minimum application temperature is 5 °C (41 °F).
- Coverage: Approximately 0.15 to 0.25 L/m² depending on surface porosity, equating to about 1,075 ft² per 5-gallon pail.
- Viscosity: 675 cP at 25 °C.
- Solids Content: 44% by weight.
- Flash Point: Non-flammable (no flash point).
- Storage Conditions: Store between 0 °C and 40 °C in a cool, ventilated area.
- Shelf Life: Up to 12 months in original sealed containers.
- Cleaning: Tools can be cleaned with petroleum solvents such as mineral spirits, varsol, or xylene.
- Environmental Considerations: As a water-based, solvent-free product, it is safer for use in enclosed or sensitive environments compared to solvent-based primers.
