Material Use:
ANTIROCK SEALANT is a black, multipurpose mastic formulated with SBS-modified bitumen, fibres, and mineral fillers. It is specifically designed as a waterproofing complement for civil engineering structures, particularly in bridge construction and other infrastructure applications. The product is intended to be used in conjunction with ANTIROCK waterproofing membranes to enhance waterproofing performance and durability.
System Components:
ANTIROCK SEALANT is used as part of a waterproofing system in combination with ANTIROCK waterproofing membranes. It is fully compatible with these membranes due to its low solvent content and SBS-modified bitumen formulation. No primer is required for adhesion on most surfaces, making it a convenient and efficient component in the system.
Applications:
This sealant is ideal for use in civil engineering applications such as bridge decks, retaining walls, and other concrete structures where waterproofing is critical. It is particularly suited for use in areas where flexibility at low temperatures and resistance to flow at high temperatures are required. It can be applied to both dry and wet surfaces, making it versatile for field conditions.
Application Details:
ANTIROCK SEALANT is applied by trowel directly onto clean substrates. It can be applied even on wet surfaces, which is advantageous in variable weather conditions. The recommended application temperature range is between -10 °C and 35 °C (14 °F to 95 °F). The product has a specific gravity of 1.12 kg/L and contains 83% solids by weight. It is available in 10 L (2.6 gal) and 200 L (52.8 gal) containers. Tools used for application can be cleaned with petroleum solvents such as mineral spirits, varsol, or xylene.
Special Notes:
ANTIROCK SEALANT is flammable and should be stored in a cool, dry area away from open flames or heat sources. It has a shelf life of up to 2 years when stored in its original sealed container. The product offers excellent adhesion without the need for a primer and remains flexible at low temperatures while resisting flow at high temperatures. It also provides superior aging resistance when protected from UV radiation; however, it is not specified as UV stable or UV resistant, so it should be protected from direct UV exposure for long-term performance. The flash point of the product is 26 °C (79 °F), and appropriate safety precautions should be taken during handling and application.
