Material Use:
ANTIROCK and ANTIROCK STARTER are SBS-modified bitumen waterproofing membranes specifically designed for bridge deck waterproofing. These membranes provide a durable, flexible, and weather-resistant barrier that protects concrete bridge structures from water infiltration and environmental degradation.
System Components:
The ANTIROCK waterproofing system consists of two main components:
- ANTIROCK STARTER: A base membrane with a 75 mm (3 in) selvedge on each side, used as the initial layer in the system.
- ANTIROCK: The primary waterproofing membrane installed over the starter layer.
Both membranes are reinforced with non-woven polyester and have a top surface covered with grey mineral granules and a thermofusible plastic film on the underside.
Applications:
This system is intended for use on concrete bridge decks and other horizontal or vertical surfaces requiring robust waterproofing. It is suitable for new construction or rehabilitation of bridge structures.
Application Details:
- Surface Preparation: Concrete must be cured for a minimum of 14 days and must meet a surface profile of CSP 3-5 as per ICRI standards. Shotblasting with steel balls is recommended for optimal surface preparation.
- Priming: Surfaces must be dry, clean, and primed with either ANTIROCK PRIMER or ANTIROCK EMULSION PRIMER before membrane installation.
- Installation Method:
- On horizontal surfaces, membranes are mechanically installed using automated equipment such as Macaden or Mini-Macaden.
- On vertical surfaces or areas with limited access, membranes are heat-welded using a propane torch.
- Laps: Side lap joints must be a minimum of 75 mm (3 in), and end lap joints must be at least 150 mm (6 in).
- Selvedge: ANTIROCK STARTER includes a 75 mm (3 in) selvedge on both sides to facilitate overlapping and ensure watertight seams.
Special Notes:
- Thickness: Both ANTIROCK and ANTIROCK STARTER have a nominal thickness of 4.5 mm.
- Dimensions: Standard roll size is 8 m x 1 m (26 ft x 3.3 ft). ANTIROCK is also available in 200 m x 1 m rolls upon request.
- Weight: Each roll weighs approximately 45 kg (99 lb).

- Cold bending resistance: -30 °C
- Low temperature flexibility: -20 °C

- Breaking strength: 17.0 / 12.5 kN/m (MD/XD)
- Ultimate elongation: 60 / 65% (MD/XD)
- Static puncture resistance: 400 N (CAN-CSGB) / 215 N (ASTM D5602 modified)
- Storage: Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top. If stored outdoors, they must be covered with an opaque protective cover after removing the delivery packaging.
- UV Resistance: The mineral granule surface provides UV protection, making the membrane UV-resistant after installation.
