Material Use:
COLPHENE BSW-V PLUS is a high-performance, SBS-modified bitumen waterproofing membrane specifically engineered for vertical blindside waterproofing applications. It is designed to provide a durable and watertight barrier in foundation wall systems, particularly in below-grade construction where waterproofing must be applied before the concrete wall is poured (blindside).
System Components:
COLPHENE BSW-V PLUS is used as part of a blindside waterproofing system. It is composed of a 3.0 mm (120 mils) thick SBS-modified bitumen membrane reinforced with a composite reinforcement. The top surface is sanded, and the underside is protected with a silicone release film for ease of installation. The system includes the use of SOPRASEAL STICK primer, which is strongly recommended for all installations and mandatory when temperatures are below 10 °C (50 °F). The membrane features DUO SELVEDGE technology for enhanced lap sealing, combining a thermofusible plastic film and exposed sticky bitumen.
Applications:
This membrane is ideal for vertical blindside waterproofing in foundation walls, especially in conditions where the waterproofing must be applied before the concrete is poured. It is suitable for use in high-performance building envelopes requiring resistance to water ingress, radon, and methane gas. It is also effective in areas with high hydrostatic pressure and where lateral water migration must be prevented.
Application Details:
COLPHENE BSW-V PLUS is a self-adhesive membrane applied in strips up to 5 m (16 ft) in length. The silicone release film is removed to adhere the membrane to the substrate. Side laps must be 100 mm (4 in), and end laps at least 150 mm (6 in), with end laps offset by at least 300 mm (12 in) to avoid membrane buildup. The DUO SELVEDGE edge is partially self-adhesive and partially thermofusible, requiring thermal welding with a propane torch or electric hot air welder to ensure a complete seal. Mechanical fastening is required at the top of each strip using 50 mm (2 in) plates and appropriate screws spaced every 300 mm (12 in). A roller should be used to apply uniform pressure across the membrane for proper adhesion.
Special Notes:
- Primer Use: SOPRASEAL STICK primer is recommended for all applications and mandatory below 10 °C (50 °F).
- UV Exposure: The membrane can be exposed to UV for up to 60 days.
- Minimum Application Temperature: -10 °C (14 °F).
- Thickness: 3.0 mm (120 mils).
- Dimensions: 1 m x 10 m (3.3 ft x 33 ft) per roll.
