Description
COLPHENE H is a hot-applied rubberized asphalt waterproofing membrane reinforced with mineral fillers.
UNITS PER SKID: 40
QUANTITY PER PACKAGING: 2 PC
Material Use:
COLPHENE H is a hot-applied, rubberized asphalt waterproofing membrane reinforced with mineral fillers. It is designed for use in protected-membrane roofing systems (inverted roofs), green roofs, plaza decks, bridges, and below-grade applications such as foundation walls. This material provides a durable, seamless waterproofing barrier for both horizontal and vertical surfaces.
System Components:
The COLPHENE H waterproofing system consists of the following components:
- Primer: ELASTOCOL 500 is required on porous substrates to ensure proper adhesion.
- Base Coat: COLPHENE H applied at a minimum wet film thickness of 2.3 mm (90 mils).
- Reinforcement Fabric: Embedded into the base coat while still hot to provide structural integrity.
- Top Coat: A second layer of COLPHENE H applied at a minimum wet film thickness of 3.2 mm (125 mils).
- Protection Layer: A polyethylene sheet (0.15 mm / 6 mils) or SOPRABOARD is applied over the still-warm membrane. For vertical applications, SOPRABOARD and/or SOPRARAIN are used.
Applications:
COLPHENE H is suitable for a wide range of waterproofing applications, including:
- Protected-membrane roofing systems (inverted roofs)
- Green roofs
- Plaza decks
- Bridge decks
- Foundation walls and other below-grade structures
Application Details:
- Surface Preparation: Concrete must be cured for at least 14 days and have a surface profile of CSP 1 to 5. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants. Plywood must be exterior grade with a minimum thickness of 16 mm (5/8 in). OSB and particle boards are not acceptable.
- Application Method: The material is applied hot using a flat squeegee or roller (not notched). The base coat is applied first, followed by immediate embedding of the reinforcement fabric, and then the top coat.
- Application Temperature: Ambient temperature must be at least -18 °C (0 °F). The product must be heated to 177–204 °C (350–400 °F) before application. The melter must maintain an oil-bath temperature of 260–288 °C (500–550 °F) intermittently.
- Coverage Rate:
- Base Coat: 3.0 kg/m² (62 lb/100 ft²)
- Top Coat: 4.2 kg/m² (86 lb/100 ft²)
- Total System Weight: 7.3 kg/m² (1.5 lb/ft²)
Special Notes:
- Priming: ELASTOCOL 500 primer is mandatory on porous substrates.
- Reinforcement: Neoprene reinforcement is strongly recommended for details and upstands subject to structural stress.
- Limitations: Not suitable for exposed applications or use in enclosed, unventilated areas. Do not apply over lightweight or insulating concrete without written approval.
- Environmental Resistance: The membrane is not UV stable and must be protected after installation.
- Performance Characteristics:
- 100% solids content
- Excellent low-temperature flexibility (passes at -25 °C / -13 °F)
- High hydrostatic pressure resistance (134 m / 440 ft of water)
- Water absorption after 96 hours at 50 °C is only 0.06%
- Water vapor permeance: 1.5 ng/Pa·s·m² (0.026 perm)
- Storage: Store in a dry, weather-protected area. Do not double-stack pallets. Keep away from flames and welding sparks.
COLPHENE H is a robust, high-performance waterproofing solution ideal for demanding below-grade and protected roofing applications, offering excellent adhesion, flexibility, and resistance to water and environmental stress.
