Material Use:
COLPLY BASE 410 FLEX is a high-performance SBS-modified bitumen base sheet membrane designed for use in multi-layer roofing systems. It is specifically engineered for cold weather applications, offering enhanced flexibility at low temperatures, making it ideal for installations in climates where temperatures fall below 0°C (32°F). This membrane serves as the base ply in a multi-layer waterproofing or roofing system.
System Components:
COLPLY BASE 410 FLEX is typically used as part of a multi-layer SBS-modified bitumen roofing system. It is installed using either a cold adhesive or SEBS hot bitumen (such as SOPRASPHALTE M). The system may include a compatible primer (not specified in the TDS but typically required for cold adhesive applications), a base sheet (COLPLY BASE 410 FLEX), and a cap sheet (not specified in this TDS but typically a UV-resistant SBS-modified bitumen cap sheet such as SOPRALENE or ELASTOPHENE). End laps and side laps are sealed using hot-air welding to ensure watertight integrity.

Application Details:
- Installation Methods:
- Cold Adhesive: Apply adhesive with a notched squeegee, then roll the membrane into place. End laps (first 100–125 mm) are sealed with adhesive and the final 25–50 mm welded with hot air. Side laps must also be hot-air welded.
- Hot Bitumen (SEBS): Unroll the membrane into a bed of SEBS hot bitumen (e.g., SOPRASPHALTE M) applied with a mop.
- Surface Preparation: Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and primed if required by the adhesive system.
- Selvedge Width: 100 mm (4 in) for lap joints.
- Membrane Dimensions: 10 m x 1 m (33 ft x 3.3 ft)
- Thickness: Minimum 2.5 mm (98 mils)
- Mass per Unit Area: Minimum 3.1 kg/m² (60 lb/100 ft²)
Special Notes:
- Temperature Range for Installation: Can be installed in temperatures below 0°C (32°F) due to its flexible formulation.
- UV Resistance: This is a base sheet and is not UV stable. It must be covered with a UV-resistant cap sheet.
- Storage: Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top. If stored outdoors, they must be protected with an opaque cover.
- Water Vapour Transmission: < 2.5 ng/Pa•s•m² (< 0.04 perm), indicating excellent resistance to moisture penetration.
- Low Temperature Flexibility: -27°C (-17°F), which exceeds standard requirements.
- Dimensional Stability: ±0.2%
- Puncture Resistance: Pass
- Compound Stability: 121°C (250°F)
Limitations:
- This product is not UV stable and must be protected with a compatible cap sheet.
- The TDS does not specify pot life or curing time, as this is a pre-manufactured membrane and not a liquid-applied product.
- Ensure proper welding of laps to maintain waterproofing integrity.
- Not intended for use as a standalone waterproofing layer; must be used as part of a complete SBS-modified bitumen system.
Coverage:
- One roll covers approximately 10 m² (107.6 ft²), not accounting for overlaps.
This product is best used in conjunction with SOPREMA adhesives and cap sheets to form a complete, high-performance SBS-modified bitumen roofing system.
