Description

High-strength base sheet membrane composed of a proprietary formulation of elastomeric SBS polymer modified bitumen and a composite reinforcement.

UNITS PER SKID: 30

Material Use:

ELASTOPHENE HS SANDED is a high-strength SBS-modified bituminous roofing base sheet membrane designed for use in multi-layer roofing systems. It serves as a base ply in adhered roofing assemblies, providing enhanced flexibility, elongation, and durability. This membrane is suitable for both new construction and re-roofing applications.

System Components:

ELASTOPHENE HS SANDED is typically used as a base sheet in a multi-layer SBS-modified bitumen roofing system. It is installed in conjunction with compatible adhesives such as cold-applied adhesives or SEBS hot bitumen (e.g., SOPRASPHALTE M). A cap sheet membrane (not included in this TDS but typically from the SOPREMA ELASTOPHENE or SOPRALENE product lines) is required to complete the system. Side and end laps are sealed using hot-air welding to ensure watertight integrity.

Applications:

This membrane is intended for use in commercial and industrial roofing systems where high performance and durability are required. It is suitable for use in both warm and cold climates due to its excellent low-temperature flexibility and high-temperature stability. It is ideal for flat or low-slope roofs and can be used in both adhered and hot-applied systems.

Application Details:

ELASTOPHENE HS SANDED can be installed using two primary methods:

1. Cold Adhesive Application: The membrane is unrolled onto a previously applied cold adhesive using a notched squeegee. Pressure is applied with a membrane roller to ensure full adhesion. End laps require additional adhesive and are finished with hot-air welding.

2. Hot Bitumen Application: The membrane is embedded into a bed of SEBS hot bitumen (SOPRASPHALTE M) applied with a mop.

All side and end laps must be welded using hot-air equipment to ensure a continuous, watertight seal. The use of an automatic hot-air welder is recommended for improved speed and consistency.

Special Notes:

- Thickness: Minimum thickness is 2.8 mm (110 mils), with a selvedge thickness also at 2.8 mm.

- Coverage: Each roll covers approximately 9.1 m² (97.9 ft²), accounting for side and end laps.

- Temperature Range: The membrane maintains flexibility down to -26 °C (-14.8 °F) and has compound stability up to 116 °C (240.8 °F), making it suitable for a wide range of climates.

- UV Resistance: As a base sheet, ELASTOPHENE HS SANDED is not UV stable and must be covered with a UV-resistant cap sheet.

- Storage: Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top. If stored outdoors, they must be protected with an opaque cover.

- Reinforcement: The membrane includes a composite reinforcement for added strength and dimensional stability.

- Installation Conditions: Ensure dry conditions during installation. Avoid application during rain or when the substrate is wet or frozen.

This product is part of a system and must be used with compatible SOPREMA adhesives and cap sheets to ensure full performance and warranty compliance. Always consult SOPREMA technical representatives for system design and installation guidance.
