Description
SBS modified bitumen self-adhesive membrane intended to be used as a roofing underlayment.
UNITS PER SKID: 36
Material Use:
LASTOBOND SHIELD HT is a high-performance, self-adhesive roof underlayment and eave protection membrane designed for use beneath various types of roofing materials, including those that reach high surface temperatures such as metal roofing and tiles. It serves as a waterproofing barrier to protect roof assemblies from water infiltration, ice dams, and wind-driven rain.
System Components:
This membrane is composed of SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) modified bitumen, which provides excellent flexibility and durability. The top surface is a slip-resistant tri-laminate woven polyethylene, while the underface is coated with a self-adhesive layer protected by a split-back silicone release film. For enhanced adhesion in challenging conditions, the use of ELASTOCOL STICK primers is recommended.
Applications:
LASTOBOND SHIELD HT is suitable for use on a wide range of substrates including metal, plywood, OSB, gypsum, and asphaltic boards such as SOPRABOARD. It is ideal for use under metal roofs, tile roofs, and other high-temperature roofing systems, as well as for eave protection and full-roof underlayment in sloped roofing applications.
Application Details:
Installation is straightforward: the membrane is applied by removing the silicone release film and pressing the membrane onto the prepared substrate. A membrane roller should be used to ensure full and uniform adhesion. The minimum installation temperature is 10 °C (50 °F), and the membrane can be exposed to UV for up to 90 days before the final roofing material must be installed. The membrane has a thickness of 1.0 mm (40 mils) and comes in rolls measuring 22.9 m x 0.91 m (75 ft x 3 ft), with a selvedge width of 75 mm (3 in) for overlapping.
Special Notes:
- Primers: For superior adhesion, especially in cold or dusty conditions, ELASTOCOL STICK primers are recommended.
- Temperature Limits: The membrane can be installed at temperatures as low as 10 °C (50 °F) and remains serviceable in a wide temperature range from -45 °C to 115 °C (-49 °F to 239 °F).
- UV Resistance: The membrane is UV resistant for up to 90 days, after which it must be covered with the final roofing material.
- Storage: Rolls should be stored upright with the selvedge side on top. If stored outdoors, they must be protected with an opaque cover.
- Performance: The membrane exhibits excellent mechanical properties including high tear resistance (375/400 N), static puncture resistance (400 N), and strong adhesion to plywood (up to 25 kgf/30.5 cm at 24 °C). It also passes nail sealability and low-temperature flexibility tests, ensuring reliable performance in harsh climates.
- Waterproofing: With a water vapour permeance of less than 2.1 ng/Pa•s•m², the membrane provides an effective barrier against moisture ingress.
