Description

Poly-Caulk® 50A is is two-component, 1:1 ratio, aromatic, rapid setting, self leveling, polyurea polyurethane, 50 Shore A caulking compound for interior application.

Material Use:

Poly-Caulk 50A is a rapid-setting, self-leveling, aromatic polyurea polyurethane caulking compound with a Shore A hardness of 50. It is designed primarily for interior use to repair random cracks, control joints, saw cuts, and other structural or shrinkage joints in concrete slabs where minimal downtime is essential. It is particularly suited for areas subjected to thermal movement and physical wear.

System Components:

·       Base Material: Two-component system mixed at a 1:1 volume ratio (Side-A and Side-B).

·       Compatible Primers: Polyprime 2180 or Polyprime EBF-LV (when priming is required).

·       Backer Rod: Optional, used in control joints with a recommended depth not exceeding 25% of slab depth. Not used in construction joints or spall repair.

Applications:

 Ideal for concrete surfaces in:

·       Airports

·       Bridge headers

·       Food processing plants

·       Freezers and cold storage

·       Parking garages

·       Water treatment plants

·       Utility saw cuts

·       Grade matching

Application Details:

·       Mixing: Side-A requires no mixing; Side-B must be pre-mixed. Use a mechanical low-speed mixer for uniform consistency. Only dispense using a proportioning system with static mixing tube.

·       Installation Temperature: Can be applied in environments ranging from 20°F (-6.6°C) to 135°F (57°C). Material should be conditioned to 75-80°F (24-27°C) before use.

·       Pot Life/Gel Time: Approximately 35 ± 5 seconds at 75°F. Material in the static mixing tube thickens in 30–60 seconds, so it must be used quickly.

·       Traffic Ready: Shave excess material within 60–90 minutes; light traffic can resume typically within 90 minutes.

·       Curing: Full curing occurs rapidly enough for fast turnaround but exact "full cure" time is not defined separately from traffic readiness.

·       Joint Filling: Can fill full depth of construction joints without backer rod; spalls and cracks require saw cutting to a minimum depth of ½” with square edges.

·       Cleanup: Cured product is disposable without restriction. Uncured material requires local regulation adherence.

·       Shelf Life: 1 year in factory-sealed containers stored between 60–95°F (15–35°C).

Special Notes:

·       UV Exposure: Not UV stable—discoloration will occur in exterior applications, although physical properties remain unaffected.

·       VOC Compliance: 0 g/L VOC content—completely compliant with all VOC regulations.

·       Color: Concrete Grey

·       Tensile Strength: 425 ± 50 psi

·       Elongation: 550 ± 50%

·       Tear Strength: 50 ± 5 pli (8.76 ± 0.8 kN/m)

·       Hardness: 50 ± 5 Shore A

·       Coverage: Varies by joint width and depth—refer to table on page 1 for detailed joint size-to-coverage values (e.g., a ¼”x¼” joint provides 308 linear feet per gallon).

Limitations:

·       Interior use only due to UV discoloration.

·       Substrate must be fully cured (28 days) and clean, dry, and saw cut per ACI recommendations.

·       Not to be diluted; Side-B must be homogenized before use.
