System Components:
SENTINEL PVC Boot Flashings are made from thermoplastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) reinforced with fibreglass. They are available in two configurations: a “split type” for penetrations that are obstructed at the top and a “closed type” for unobstructed penetrations. The system includes the boot flashing itself, SENTINEL UNIVERSAL SEALANT for sealing the top edge, and a pipe clamp (included) to secure the seal. These flashings are designed to be welded to the SENTINEL PVC field membrane using a hot air welder.
Applications:
These flashings are used in roofing applications to seal around circular penetrations ranging from 25 mm to 305 mm (1 in to 12 in) in diameter. They are suitable for both new construction and retrofit roofing projects using SENTINEL PVC membranes. The product is ideal for commercial and industrial flat roofing systems where long-term waterproofing performance is required.
Application Details:
Installation involves welding the base of the flashing to the PVC field membrane using an electric hot air welder. For the split-type flashing, the vertical seam must also be welded after wrapping it around the pipe. The top of the flashing is sealed with SENTINEL UNIVERSAL SEALANT and secured with the included pipe clamp. Proper surface preparation and welding technique are critical to ensure a watertight seal. The product is available in white and grey to match the field membrane.
Special Notes:
- SENTINEL PVC Boot Flashings are part of the SENTINEL PVC roofing system and must be used with compatible SENTINEL PVC membranes and accessories.
- The product has a nominal thickness of 1.5 mm (60 mils) and is reinforced with fibreglass for added durability.
- It is not a liquid-applied product and therefore does not have pot life, curing time, or wet mil thickness requirements.
- Storage should be in a clean, dry area away from heat and moisture. If stored outdoors, cover with tarps to protect from the elements.
- The product is not UV-sensitive due to its PVC composition and is designed for long-term exposure on roofing systems.
- Each unit is packaged with 10 pieces per pallet, with weights of 8.2 kg (18 lb) for smaller sizes and 15.9 kg (35 lb) for larger sizes.
