Description

SOPRA-CELLULOSE AB is an all borate-treated cellulose insulation made of more than 80% recycled paper and cardboard.

UNITS PER SKID: 42

Material Use:

SOPRA-CELLULOSE AB is a high-performance, all-borate treated cellulose insulation material designed for indoor thermal and acoustic insulation applications. It is composed of recycled paper, glassine, and cardboard, and is suitable for use in attics, walls, ceilings, and floors. The product is odourless, has low VOC emissions, and contributes to energy efficiency and indoor comfort by reducing heat transfer and sound transmission.

System Components:

SOPRA-CELLULOSE AB is used as a standalone insulation material but is part of a broader SOPREMA insulation system. For wall applications, it is used in conjunction with SOPRA-CELLULOSE STRIP and a retained membrane to ensure proper installation. SOPRA-CELLULOSE RULERS are used in attic applications to measure and verify the installed thickness. The system also includes mandatory use of a SOPREMA-approved nozzle for dense-pack wall injection.

Applications:

- Attic insulation (new construction or over existing batt insulation)

- Wall cavity insulation (injection method)

- Floor and ceiling cavity insulation (injection method)

- Soundproofing for interior partitions

- Energy efficiency upgrades in residential and commercial buildings

Application Details:

- Attic Installation: Blown-in using specialized equipment to a minimum settled density of 27.2 kg/m³ (1.7 lb/ft³). Can also be hand-poured in restricted spaces.

- Wall Injection: Requires a retained membrane and SOPRA-CELLULOSE STRIP. Injected to a minimum density of 56 kg/m³ (3.5 lb/ft³) for wall thickness up to 150 mm (6 in), and 64 kg/m³ (4 lb/ft³) for walls thicker than 150 mm.

- Floor and Ceiling Injection: Applied at densities between 28.8 kg/m³ (1.8 lb/ft³) and 48 kg/m³ (3.0 lb/ft³).

- Thermal Resistance: R-value of 3.7 per inch (RSI 0.65 per 25.4 mm), measured after settlement.

- Service Temperature: Maximum of 90 °C (194 °F).

- Packaging: Supplied in 11.3 kg (25 lb) bags.

- Coverage: Varies by application and thickness. For example, at RSI 3.5 (R-20), approximately 30.2 bags are required per 1000 ft² in attic applications. In wall applications at RSI 3.5, approximately 58 bags are required per 1000 ft².

Special Notes:

- Fire Safety: Maintain a minimum 75 mm (3 in) clearance from recessed light fixtures and heat-producing devices. Use physical barriers to ensure safe distances.

- Moisture Resistance: Moisture vapor sorption is less than 20% by mass gain.

- Fungal Resistance: No fungal growth observed under test conditions (95% RH, 28 °C).

- Corrosion Resistance: No perforation observed on aluminum, copper, or steel after 28 days at 50 °C.

- Environmental Impact: Made from pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled content.

- Certifications: Meets CAN/ULC-S703, ASTM C739, ASTM C518, and other relevant standards. CCMC Evaluation Listing 14147-L.

- Storage: Store indoors in original, non-perforated packaging. On-site, cover with an opaque tarp to protect from moisture and UV exposure.

SOPRA-CELLULOSE AB is a versatile and sustainable insulation solution that integrates well into SOPREMA’s broader building envelope systems. It is ideal for both new construction and retrofit projects where thermal performance, soundproofing, and environmental responsibility are priorities.
