Description

Single-component polyurethane foam for filling and insulating holes, cracks, and joints. Indoor/outdoor use. Provides airtight insulation for wiring, plumbing, and HVAC ducts.

UNITS PER SKID: 720

Material Use:

SOPRA-FOAM GAPS AND CRACKS is a single-component, moisture-cured polyurethane foam designed for both interior and exterior use. It is primarily used for filling, sealing, and insulating small gaps, cracks, and joints up to 25 mm (1 inch) in width. The foam provides an airtight and water-resistant seal, making it ideal for improving energy efficiency and blocking drafts. It is also suitable for use around wiring, plumbing, and HVAC ducts.

System Components:

This product is a standalone system but can be used in conjunction with SOPREMA’s SOPRASEAL membranes and RESISTO’s smooth-surface membranes for enhanced air and moisture sealing around doors, windows, and other penetrations. The system includes:

- SOPRA-FOAM GAPS AND CRACKS (available in STRAW and PRO gun-applied formats)

- SOPRA-FOAM CL-F cleaner (for cleaning the applicator gun)

Applications:

SOPRA-FOAM GAPS AND CRACKS is suitable for use on a wide range of substrates including vinyl, wood, metal, polystyrene, and polyisocyanurate. It is commonly used in residential, commercial, and industrial construction for sealing:

- Window and door frames

- Wall penetrations for pipes and cables

- HVAC duct joints

- Gaps in insulation systems

Application Details:

- Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, and loose particles. Porous surfaces should be lightly moistened with water to aid curing.

- Application Methods: Can be applied using a straw applicator or a professional foam gun. Shake the cartridge before and during use. Always apply with the container upside down.

- Layering: For gaps deeper than 25 mm (1 in), apply in multiple thin layers, allowing each to expand and cure before applying the next. Lightly misting with water can accelerate curing.

- Post-Application: Foam can be trimmed, sanded, painted, or stained after 24 hours.

Special Notes:

- Temperature Range for Application: -2 °C to 30 °C (28 °F to 86 °F). For best results, condition the cartridge to approximately 20 °C (68 °F) for 12 hours prior to use.

- Service Temperature Range (after cure): -40 °C to 80 °C (-40 °F to 176 °F)

- Tack-Free Time: 6–7 minutes (depending on application method)

- Trim Time: 20–45 minutes

- Full Cure Time: 24 hours

- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-use cartridge)

- UV Resistance: Not UV stable; should be protected from prolonged UV exposure

- Thickness Limit: Maximum gap fill per layer is 25 mm (1 in); apply in multiple layers for deeper gaps

- Coverage/Yield:

- STRAW format: approx. 20 L per gallon

- PRO format: approx. 36 L per gallon

- Actual yield may vary based on temperature, humidity, and application technique

- Storage: Store upright in a dry location between 5 °C and 25 °C (41 °F to 77 °F). Shelf life is 18 months in unopened packaging.

- Limitations: Not suitable for use on silicone or PTFE substrates. Not intended for fire-rated assemblies or areas requiring fireproof materials.

SOPRA-FOAM GAPS AND CRACKS is a versatile and efficient solution for sealing and insulating small gaps in building envelopes, and it integrates well with other SOPREMA air and moisture barrier systems.
