Material Use:
SOPRA-ISO PLUS is a high-performance polyisocyanurate (polyiso) thermal insulation board designed primarily for use in roofing systems. It serves as a thermal barrier, enhancing energy efficiency and contributing to the overall performance of SOPREMA roofing assemblies. The product is available in both flat and tapered configurations to accommodate drainage requirements and design flexibility.
System Components:
SOPRA-ISO PLUS is composed of a closed-cell polyisocyanurate foam core sandwiched between polymer-coated glass fiber facers. It is compatible with various SOPREMA roofing systems and can be installed using mechanical fasteners, hot bitumen, or DUOTACK adhesives. When used in adhered systems, it must be paired with appropriate adhesives or hot bitumen, and in some cases, a support panel is required before applying waterproofing membranes. It is important to note that only specific membranes such as COLVENT BASE 830 (without primer) and COLVENT BASE 840 (with primer) can be installed directly over SOPRA-ISO PLUS.
Applications:
SOPRA-ISO PLUS is intended for use in commercial and industrial roofing applications where high thermal resistance and dimensional stability are required. It is suitable for use over metal decks and other substrates, and it meets the requirements of ASTM C1289 and CAN/ULC S704 standards for polyiso insulation. The product is GREENGUARD GOLD certified, making it suitable for use in environmentally sensitive projects.
Application Details:
SOPRA-ISO PLUS can be installed using three primary methods:
- Mechanically Fastened: Using screws and stress plates, with the number of fasteners determined by wind uplift requirements.
- Adhered with Hot Bitumen: Bitumen must be applied at a temperature 28 °C (50 °F) below its Equiviscous Temperature (EVT) to ensure proper adhesion.
- Adhered with DUOTACK Adhesives: A compatible adhesive system from SOPREMA, with application rates varying by project zone and wind uplift requirements.
Special Notes:
- Compatibility: Do not install waterproofing membranes directly over SOPRA-ISO PLUS unless using COLVENT BASE 830 (no primer) or COLVENT BASE 840 (with primer). For all other membranes, a support panel must be installed first.
- Board Size Restrictions: Boards sized 1200 x 2400 mm (4 ft x 8 ft) must not be adhered using hot bitumen or adhesive; mechanical fastening is required for these dimensions.
- Environmental Conditions: SOPRA-ISO PLUS has a wide service temperature range from -73 °C to 122 °C (-100 °F to 250 °F), making it suitable for extreme climates.
- Storage: Boards must be stored flat, off the ground (minimum 75 mm or 3 in), and protected from weather. Temporary packaging must be removed to prevent condensation buildup.
- Physical Properties:
- Thermal Resistance (LTTR): R-5.7 per inch (RSI 1.00), increasing with thickness.
- Compressive Strength: Available in 20 psi (138 kPa) and 25 psi (172 kPa) grades.
- Water Absorption: Less than 1.0% (ASTM C209) and less than 3.5% (ASTM D2842).
- Flame Spread: 40–60 (ASTM E84).
- Tensile Strength: > 730 lb/ft² (35 kPa).
- Dimensional Stability: < 0.5%.
Thickness Limits:
- Minimum Thickness: 25 mm (1 in)
- Maximum Thickness: 152 mm (6 in)
- Custom Thicknesses: Available upon request.
UV Resistance:
As an insulation board, SOPRA-ISO PLUS is not intended for UV exposure and must be covered with appropriate roofing membranes or protection layers.
Coverage:
Standard board sizes are 1.22 x 1.22 m (4 x 4 ft) and 1.22 x 2.44 m (4 x 8 ft). Coverage per board is 16 ft² and 32 ft² respectively.
