Description
SOPRA-ISO TAPERED is a sloped polyisocyanurate thermal insulation board.
Material Use:
SOPRA-ISO TAPERED is a sloped polyisocyanurate (polyiso) thermal insulation board designed to provide both insulation and positive drainage on low-slope roofing systems. It is used to prevent ponding water by creating a slope toward drains or scuppers, while also delivering high thermal resistance. This product is an integral component of SOPREMA roofing systems and is suitable for use in commercial and industrial flat roof assemblies.
System Components:
SOPRA-ISO TAPERED is typically used in conjunction with SOPREMA roofing membranes and adhesives. It features a closed-cell polyisocyanurate foam core sandwiched between organic facers reinforced with glass fibers. It can be installed using mechanical fasteners, hot bitumen, or DUOTACK adhesives, depending on the project requirements and environmental conditions. When used with adhered membranes, a support panel must be installed over the insulation before membrane application.
Applications:
This insulation board is used in roofing systems where both thermal insulation and positive drainage are required. It is ideal for new construction and re-roofing projects on commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings. SOPRA-ISO TAPERED is compatible with mechanically fastened and adhered roofing systems, provided that installation guidelines are followed.
Application Details:
- Installation Methods: Mechanically fastened with screws and stress plates, adhered with hot bitumen (at a temperature 28 °C [50 °F] below the Equiviscous Temperature), or adhered using DUOTACK adhesives.
- Panel Sizes: Available in 1.22 x 1.22 m (4 x 4 ft) and 1.22 x 2.44 m (4 x 8 ft) panels. Note that 4 x 8 ft panels must not be adhered with hot bitumen or adhesive.
- Available Slopes: 0.5% (1/16 in/ft), 1% (1/8 in/ft), 1.5% (3/16 in/ft), 2% (1/4 in/ft), 3% (3/8 in/ft), and 4% (1/2 in/ft).
- Thickness Range: 0 to 150 mm (0 to 6 in), depending on slope and design requirements.
- Service Temperature Range: -73 to 122 °C (-100 to 250 °F).
- Compressive Strength: Available in 138 kPa (20 psi) and 172 kPa (25 psi) grades.
- Thermal Resistance (LTTR):
- 25.4 mm (1 in): RSI 1.00 (R-5.7)
- 38.1 mm (1.5 in): RSI 1.50 (R-8.6)
- 50.8 mm (2 in): RSI 2.01 (R-11.4)
- Water Absorption: <1.0% (ASTM C209), <3.5% (ASTM D2842)
- Flame Spread: 40–60 (ASTM E84)
- Metal Deck Flute Spanability:
- 25.4–35.56 mm (1–1.4 in): 66.7 mm (2 5/8 in)
- 38.1–101.6 mm (1.5–4 in): 111.1 mm (4 3/8 in)
Special Notes:
- SOPRA-ISO TAPERED must not be installed directly under waterproofing membranes unless the membrane is mechanically fastened. A support panel is required for adhered membranes.
- The product is GREENGUARD GOLD certified, indicating low chemical emissions and suitability for use in sensitive environments such as schools and healthcare facilities.
- Storage must be on a flat surface, protected from weather, and elevated at least 75 mm (3 in) above ground. Temporary packaging must be removed to avoid condensation.
- For outdoor storage, cover with a waterproof tarp and ensure panels remain flat.
- Always consult SOPREMA representatives or technical documentation for wind uplift resistance and fastening requirements based on local codes and standards (e.g., CSA A123.21 or FM 4470).
This product is not UV stable and is intended for use beneath roofing membranes. It is a non-liquid product and does not have pot life or curing time considerations.
