Material Use:
SOPRA-ISO V PLUS is a high-performance, closed-cell polyisocyanurate (polyiso) foam insulation board designed for use in wall assemblies. It serves as a thermal insulation component in SOPREMA’s wall systems, offering excellent thermal resistance and dimensional stability. The board is faced on both sides with a non-reflective glass-mat facer, enhancing its compatibility with various substrates and improving its durability in wall applications.
System Components:
SOPRA-ISO V PLUS is typically used as part of a wall insulation system and can be integrated with air/vapour barrier membranes and adhered or mechanically fastened to substrates such as concrete, wood, steel studs, and glass-mat gypsum. While it is not a structural component, it plays a critical role in the thermal performance of the wall system. It is compatible with SOPREMA’s range of adhesives and fasteners, depending on the substrate.
Applications:
This insulation board is suitable for use in commercial, industrial, and residential wall assemblies where high thermal resistance is required. It can be installed over a variety of substrates including concrete, wood, steel studs, and sheathing materials. It is ideal for use in both new construction and retrofit projects.
Application Details:
SOPRA-ISO V PLUS can be installed using mechanical fasteners or adhesives. When mechanically fastened, the minimum penetration depth varies by substrate:
- Wood studs: 19.0 mm (3/4”)
- Steel studs: 6.5 mm (1/4”)
- Concrete walls: 19.0 to 32.0 mm (3/4” to 1 1/4”)
The insulation boards are available in thicknesses ranging from 13 mm to 102 mm (0.5 in to 4.0 in), with standard board dimensions of 1.2 m x 2.4 m (4 ft x 8 ft). Custom sizes are available upon request.
Special Notes:
- Thermal Performance: SOPRA-ISO V PLUS offers high R-values, ranging from R-3.00 at 0.5 in thickness to R-25.00 at 4.0 in thickness. Long-term thermal resistance (LTTR) values are also provided, with R-5.63 at 1 in, R-11.40 at 2 in, and R-17.31 at 3 in.
- Environmental Limits: The service temperature range is from -60 °C to 93 °C (-76 °F to 199 °F), making it suitable for a wide range of climates.
- Moisture Resistance: The board has low water absorption (1.1% by volume) and a water vapour permeance of 58 ng/Pa•s•m² (1.01 perm) at 25.4 mm thickness.
- Fire Performance: Flame spread and smoke development ratings meet CAN/ULC S102 and ASTM E84 standards, with flame spread <75 and smoke development <450.
- Storage: SOPRA-ISO V PLUS must not be left exposed to the elements for more than 60 days. For short-term outdoor storage, stack panels on skids at least 75 mm (3 in) above ground, store flat, and cover with a waterproof tarp. Remove factory packaging to prevent condensation buildup.
- Limitations: This product is not structural and should not be used as a load-bearing element. It must be protected from prolonged UV exposure and should be covered with appropriate cladding or finish materials within 60 days of installation.
