Description

SOPRAFIBRE NAT 1C is a support panel composed of natural wood fibres.

UNITS PER SKID: 96

Material Use:

SOPRAFIBRE NAT 1C is a rigid support panel composed of natural wood fibres, designed for use in flat or low-slope roofing systems. It serves as a substrate for roofing membranes and is compatible with various roofing assemblies, including those using hot-applied bitumen. The panel is suitable for installation over plywood or rigid insulation boards and provides a stable base for the adhesion of roofing membranes.

System Components:

SOPRAFIBRE NAT 1C is typically used as part of a built-up roofing system. It can be used in conjunction with:

- Organic felt or glass mat reinforcements

- Modified bitumen roofing membranes

- Hot-applied oxidized bitumen as an adhesive layer

These components form a complete roofing system where SOPRAFIBRE NAT 1C acts as the intermediary support layer between the structural deck and the waterproofing membrane.

Applications:

This material is intended for use in commercial and industrial roofing applications, particularly in flat or low-slope roof assemblies. It is suitable for installation over:

- Plywood decks

- Rigid insulation boards

- Steel decks (with mechanical fastening)

Application Details:

SOPRAFIBRE NAT 1C can be installed using two primary methods:

1. Hot Bitumen Application: The panel is embedded in a bed of hot-applied bitumen using a mop. This method is typically used when installing over plywood or insulation boards.

2. Mechanical Fastening: When installed over steel decks, the panels are mechanically fastened using screws and insulation plates. Fasteners must be placed on the upper part of the steel ribs, and panels should be laid perpendicular to the ribs.

Special Notes:

- Dimensions and Thickness: Available in 12.7 mm (½ in) thickness, with panel sizes of 1.22 x 1.22 m (4 x 4 ft) and 1.22 x 2.44 m (4 x 8 ft).

- Surface Finish: The top surface is coated with asphalt to enhance adhesion with bitumen-based membranes, while the underside remains as exposed wood fibre.

- Standards Compliance: Meets CAN/ULC-S706.1 Type II, Class 1 and ASTM C208 Type II, Grade 1 standards.

- Thermal Resistance: Offers an R-value of 3.1 per inch (RSI 0.55).

- Water Absorption: Less than 7% by volume, indicating good moisture resistance.

- Storage Requirements: Must be stored flat and protected from weather. If stored outdoors, panels should be covered with an opaque protective cover to prevent degradation.

Limitations and Environmental Conditions:

- UV Resistance: Not UV stable; must be covered with a roofing membrane.

- Temperature and Humidity: No specific temperature or humidity limits are provided in the TDS, but as a wood fibre-based product, it should be protected from prolonged exposure to moisture before installation.

- Thickness Limitations: Fixed at 12.7 mm (½ in); not intended for use in variable thickness applications.

- Compatibility: Designed for use with hot-applied bitumen and compatible roofing membranes. Not suitable for direct exposure or use with cold-applied adhesives unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer.

SOPRAFIBRE NAT 1C is a reliable and durable support panel for roofing systems, offering ease of installation and compatibility with traditional bitumen-based waterproofing systems. It is best used as part of a complete SOPREMA roofing assembly and should be installed according to manufacturer guidelines for optimal performance.
