ALSAN FLASHING is a patented single-component, polyurethane- and bitumen-based waterproofing coating used to waterproof hard-to-access upstands and other details where it is difficult to apply sheet waterproofing membranes.

Material Use:
ALSAN FLASHING is a one-component, polyurethane/bitumen-based liquid waterproofing resin designed for use in roofing, wall, and foundation applications. It is particularly suited for detailing and flashing areas where traditional waterproofing membranes are difficult to apply. The product is ready to use and provides a seamless, durable, and UV-resistant waterproofing layer.
System Components:
The ALSAN FLASHING system may include the following components:
- ALSAN FLASHING (base and top coat)
- POLYFLEECE reinforcement (used at transitions, junctions, and changes in plane)
- Primers (as required based on substrate):
- ELASTOCOL 500 for BUR bituminous waterproofing
- ELASTOCOL STICK or ELASTOCOL STICK ZERO for membranes with HDPE surfaces
Applications:
ALSAN FLASHING is used for:
- Roof flashings and terminations
- Wall and foundation waterproofing details
- Sealing around penetrations, upstands, and complex geometries
- Areas where membrane application is impractical or impossible
Application Details:
ALSAN FLASHING is applied in two or three layers using a trowel, brush, or roller. When reinforcement is required, a three-layer system is used:
1. Apply the first layer of ALSAN FLASHING at a minimum wet film thickness of 0.8 mm (30 mil).
2. Embed POLYFLEECE reinforcement into the wet first layer.
3. Immediately apply a second layer to fully saturate the fleece.
4. Once the second layer is dry to the touch (no longer tacky), apply a third layer for complete encapsulation.
Special Notes:
- ALSAN FLASHING is UV resistant and can remain exposed without additional protection. For aesthetic purposes, it may be topped with roofing granules or SOPRALASTIC 124 ALU for an aluminum finish.
- Minimum application temperature is 5 °C (41 °F).
- Service temperature range is from -30 °C to 150 °C (-22 °F to 302 °F).
- Do not apply if rain or snow is expected within 12 hours of installation.
- Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants. PVC pipes must be sanded, and metal surfaces cleaned with acetone or MEK.
- The product has a drying time of 12 hours (remains tacky), is ready for recoating after 2 hours, and reaches full cure in 3 days.
- Coverage is approximately 50 ft² per gallon at 0.8 mm (30 mil) wet film thickness, resulting in a dry film thickness of 0.6 mm (24 mil).
- Shelf life is 12 months in unopened containers stored properly.
This system is ideal for detailed waterproofing work in roofing and foundation applications, especially where flexibility, adhesion, and UV resistance are critical.
