Material Use:
ALSAN FLASHING WINTER is a two-component polyurethane/bitumen-based waterproofing resin specifically formulated for use in cold weather conditions. It is designed for detailing and flashing applications on roofs, walls, and foundations where traditional waterproofing membranes are difficult to apply. This product is ideal for transitions, penetrations, and other complex geometries requiring a liquid-applied, seamless waterproofing solution.
System Components:
The ALSAN FLASHING WINTER system consists of two parts: Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener), which must be mixed thoroughly before application. When reinforcement is required, POLYFLEECE is embedded between layers of the resin. For aesthetic or additional protective purposes, the final coat may be topped with SOPRALASTIC 124 ALU or roofing granules. The system may also require primers depending on the substrate:
- No primer needed for traditional granulated and sanded bituminous membranes, wood, metal, pre-painted metal, concrete, polyurethane membranes (e.g., TRAFIK HP), and vertical PVC pipes.
- ELASTOCOL 500 is required for BUR bituminous waterproofing.
- ELASTOCOL STICK or ELASTOCOL STICK ZERO is required for membranes with HDPE surfaces.
Applications:
ALSAN FLASHING WINTER is used for waterproofing flashings and detailing work on roofs, walls, and foundations. It is particularly suited for cold weather applications and areas where membrane installation is impractical. It can be applied to a variety of substrates including bituminous membranes, wood, metal, concrete, and PVC.
Application Details:
The product must be applied in two or three layers using a trowel, brush, or roller. When reinforcement is required, a three-layer system is used:
1. Apply the first layer of ALSAN FLASHING WINTER.
2. Embed POLYFLEECE reinforcement into the wet first layer.
3. Immediately apply a second layer to fully saturate the fleece.
4. Once the second layer is dry to the touch, apply a third layer.
Each layer must be applied at a minimum wet film thickness of 0.8 mm (30 mil), resulting in a dry film thickness of approximately 0.6 mm (24 mil). The product is UV resistant and can be left exposed, although it may be optionally covered for aesthetic reasons.

- Application temperature range: -10°C to 5°C (14°F to 41°F)
- Service temperature range: -30°C to 150°C (-22°F to 302°F)
- Pot life: 2 hours
- Recoat time: 1 hour
- Fully dry time: 12 hours
- Full cure time: Not explicitly stated, but typically within 24 hours under standard conditions
- Coverage: One 3.37 L (0.89 US gal) kit covers approximately 4.1 m² (44.5 ft²) at 0.8 mm (30 mil) wet film thickness
