Description

ALSAN FLOOR EP 440 is a coloured two-component epoxy finish coating that has been formulated for the protection of interior concrete floors.

UNITS PER SKID: 18

Material Use:

ALSAN FLOOR EP 440 is a high-performance, two-component, 100% solids epoxy finish coating designed for the protection and aesthetic enhancement of interior concrete floors. It is primarily used in parking decks and other interior applications where a smooth, glossy, and durable surface is required. The product is self-leveling and provides excellent mechanical and chemical resistance, making it suitable for high-traffic areas.

System Components:

ALSAN FLOOR EP 440 is typically used as the final top coat in a multi-layer flooring or waterproofing system. It is applied over ALSAN FLOOR EP 101 primer in standard flooring systems or over ALSAN TRAFIK HP waterproofing membrane in waterproofing systems. For enhanced aesthetics or slip resistance, ALSAN FLOOR EP 440 can be combined with silica sand, decorative chips, or quartz aggregates. When aggregates or chips are used, a clear top coat of ALSAN FLOOR EP 951 is required to seal the surface. ALSAN TF 801 thickening agent can be added to ALSAN FLOOR EP 440 to create a crack filler or textured “orange peel” finish.

Applications:

ALSAN FLOOR EP 440 is suitable for use in interior concrete floor applications such as parking garages, commercial and industrial floors, and other high-traffic interior environments. It is also used in waterproofing systems where a durable, aesthetic finish is required over a waterproofing membrane.

Application Details:

- Surface Preparation: Substrate must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants. Concrete must be fully cured (minimum 28 days) with a compressive strength of at least 24 MPa (3500 psi) and a moisture content ≤ 4% (measured with a TRAMEX meter per ASTM F2659). Surface profile should be ICRI CSP 3 or 4, typically achieved by shot blasting.

- Priming: ALSAN FLOOR EP 101 is the recommended primer. However, ALSAN FLOOR EP 440 can be applied directly to concrete if two coats are used and surface preparation is thorough.

- Mixing Ratio: 2:1 by volume (Part A:Part B). Mix each part separately for 2–3 minutes, then combine and mix for another 2–3 minutes until homogeneous. Pour immediately onto the substrate to avoid exothermic heat buildup.

- Application Method: Apply with a roller or flat squeegee.

- Recommended Thickness: 15–20 mils (381–508 µm) wet film thickness.

- Coverage: One 18.6 L (4.9 US gal) kit covers approximately:

- 525 ft² at 15 mils

- 394 ft² at 20 mils

- Pot Life:

- 1 hour at 20 °C (68 °F)

- 30 minutes at 30 °C (86 °F)

- Cure Time:

- Fully cured in 12 hours at 20 °C (68 °F)

- 6 hours at 30 °C (86 °F)

- Application Temperature: Minimum 10 °C (50 °F) for both ambient and substrate temperatures.

- Top Coat (Optional): ALSAN FLOOR EP 951 clear coat must be applied within 72 hours if chips or quartz aggregates are used.

Special Notes:

- ALSAN FLOOR EP 440 is not UV stable and should be used in interior applications only.

- The product is low in VOCs (< 29 g/L) and offers excellent abrasion resistance (65–120 mg loss per ASTM D4060), compressive strength (> 62 MPa), and bond strength (> 2 MPa).

- It has excellent resistance to fungal and mold growth (ASTM G21 and D3273).

- Tools should be cleaned with ALSAN RS CLEANER or solvents such as MEK, xylene, or mineral spirits.

- Shelf life is 18 months when stored in original containers between 10 °C and 35 °C (50 °F to 95 °F). Product is corrosive and should be handled with appropriate PPE.

This material is best used as part of a complete ALSAN FLOOR EP system for interior concrete floor protection or as a finish coat in ALSAN TRAFIK waterproofing systems.
