Description

Material Use:

This is a two-component, low-viscosity, low-modulus, toughened epoxy binder designed for epoxy mortars and concretes. It is ideal for exterior use and applications requiring abrasion, impact, and chemical resistance. Common applications include rebuilding damaged joint nosings, repairing spalls, protecting concrete and steel surfaces, and bonding elastomeric materials to rigid substrates.

System Components:

·       Resin (Part A) and Hardener (Part B) mixed in a 2:1 volume ratio.

·       Aggregates for forming mortars, concretes, slurries, or broadcast systems, including high silica sand and polish-resistant aggregates such as aluminum oxide or silicon carbide.

·       Used as a primer at 8-10 mil thickness (100-125 sq ft/gal) before applying mortar or concrete.

Applications:

·       Concrete and steel surface repair

·       Joint nosing restoration

·       Slurry coatings and aggregate broadcast systems

·       Bonding flexible materials to rigid substrates

·       Surfaces subject to vehicular traffic and mechanical shock

Application Details:

·       Primer: Mixed binder applied at 8–10 mils; substrate must be primed while tacky.

·       Mortars and Concretes: Applied over tacky primer, using rodding, tamping, or troweling methods.

·       Slurry Coats: 1 part binder to 2–2.5 parts aggregate, applied at 3/8 inch thickness.

·       Broadcast Systems: Binder applied at approx. 45 sq ft/gal, aggregate broadcasted at 8–14 lb/sq yd depending on coat.

Special Notes:

·       Installation Temperature: Minimum 40 °F.

·       Maximum Thickness: Approximately 1.5 inches per lift.

·       Pot Life: 30 minutes (1 quart, standard conditions).

·       Cure Time:

o       Initial cure: 2–5 hours per coat

o       Slurry coat cure: 6–8 hours

o       Full cure: 7 days at 73°F

·       UV Resistance: Not explicitly UV stable; external use implies reasonable exposure tolerance but not long-term UV resistance.

·       Chemical Resistance: Good resistance to deicing chemicals and vehicle/aircraft fluids; limited against hydrocarbon solvents.

·       Coverage:

o       Primer: 100–125 sq ft/gal

o       First broadcast coat: ~45 sq ft/gal

o       Second broadcast coat: ~30 sq ft/gal

·       Surface Prep: Must be clean, sound, and free of bond-inhibiting substances. Preparation standards include ASTM D 4259 or ACI 503R.
