Description
CCS Bonder 217 is a two-component, solvent-free, high-modulus epoxy paste adhesive primarily designed for structural bonding and filling purposes. It is commonly used to fill wide slots, cracks, gaps, and voids, as well as for fairing and leveling uneven concrete or masonry surfaces. It is also applied as a security sealant for precast panel joints in high-security environments like jails and detention centers, and for anchoring bolts, dowels, and rebar into horizontal and overhead substrates.
This epoxy system includes Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener), mixed in a 1:1 ratio by volume. It is reinforced with Kevlar for enhanced toughness, non-brittleness, and high tear resistance.
Appropriate for horizontal, vertical, and overhead applications on concrete, masonry, stone, steel, wood, and FRP. Suitable for dry, damp, and wet substrates. Can be applied for structural bonding, anchoring, fairing, leveling, and filling.
· Surface Prep: Substrates should be clean and free of bond-inhibiting materials. Concrete must meet ASTM D 4259 or ACI 503R Chapter 5 standards; steel surfaces should be SSPC SP 5 clean.
· Mixing: Mix thoroughly for 2–3 minutes using a Jiffy mixer at low speed (350–750 rpm). Pre-warming components to 70–125°F eases mixing.
· Installation: Apply with a trowel or caulking gun. Maintain pressure during bonding until the adhesive sets.
· Thickness Limits: Can be applied up to ¾ inch thick without sag or flow (ASTM D2730).
· Pot Life: Gel time is 70 minutes at 73°F for 1 quart.
· Open Time: 3 hours.
· Cure Time: Hard dry in 6 hours; full cure in 1 day.
· Minimum Application Temperature: 40°F (substrate temperature).
· Maximum In-Service Temperature: Should not exceed 20°F below the Heat Deflection Temperature (126°F) when under sustained shear stress.
· Coverage: 0.13 cu ft per gallon as a joint filler. Specific lineal foot coverage varies by joint dimension (e.g., 154 ft/gal for ½" x ¼" joints).
· UV Stability: Not indicated; typically indoor or embedded applications suggest UV exposure is not recommended.
· Cleaning: Use acetone or heavy-duty detergent before the material cures.
· VOC-free, making it suitable for enclosed environments.
· High sag resistance and superior mechanical properties for high-load and overhead use.
· Long shelf life (minimum three years) when stored properly.
· Excellent chemical resistance to acids, bases, fuels, oils, etc., though limited resistance to hydrocarbon solvents.
· Custom colors available on request; standard color is concrete gray.
