Description
CCS MVR Primer is a two-component, solvent-free epoxy primer designed for use on slab-on-grade concrete floors experiencing high moisture vapor transmission. It serves as a vapor barrier, reducing moisture vapor transmission rates from up to 25 lbs./1000 ft²/24 hr to below 3 lbs., thereby meeting the requirements for the installation of impervious floor coatings and coverings.
This product is used as a primer layer in floor coating systems, enhancing adhesion and performance of the topcoat. It features a 2:1 mix ratio (Part A: Resin, Part B: Hardener) and does not contain VOCs. It may be used in conjunction with impervious floor coatings or adhesives applied after the primer has set.
· Slab-on-grade concrete floors (dry or damp)
· Environments requiring moisture vapor transmission control
· Pre-installation for impervious floor coverings (above and below grade)
· Industrial settings exposed to automotive and aircraft chemicals
· Application Method: Apply using a 3/32” notched squeegee and back-roll with a 3/8” nap roller.
· Primer Thickness: 15 mils (wet film thickness)
· Coverage: 95–120 ft²/gallon, depending on substrate porosity
· Surface Preparation: Must be free from contaminants and prepared according to ASTM D4259 or ACI 503R standards. Concrete should have minimum tensile strength of 250 psi.
· Set Time Before Topcoat: 10–12 hours at 73°F. Topcoat must be applied while surface remains tacky.
· Cure Times:
o 50°F: 12 hours
o 73°F: 10 hours
o 90°F: 8 hours
· Full Gel Time: 45 minutes at 250g mass
· Post-24 Hour Application: Apply 30-40 mesh kiln-dried aggregate at 2 lb/yd² for better mechanical adhesion.
· Minimum Installation Temperature: 50°F. Apply after the substrate has reached peak daily temperature.
· Humidity and Moisture Tolerance: Can be applied to dry or slightly damp concrete.
· UV Resistance: Not specified as UV-stable; not intended for exposed applications without topcoat.
· Shelf Life: Minimum of three years in original, unopened containers stored between 60–90°F.
· Color: Clear amber when mixed.
· Chemical Resistance: High resistance to automotive and aircraft fluids; limited resistance to hydrocarbon solvents.
Safety Notes: Use with proper PPE. Both components have moderate health hazards. Avoid contact and inhalation
