Description
CCS InsulPOX – a Low Modulus Toughened Insulating Polymer Concrete (IPC) - is a three-component, trowelable polymer overlay formulated for cryogenic containment applications requiring both insulation and durability. It is especially suited for trench floors and walls, sumps in LNG terminals, and containment zones for cryogenic liquids such as LNG or other liquefied gases. It offers excellent thermal insulation, abrasion resistance, and tolerance to mechanical and thermal shocks.
· Part A: Liquid epoxy resin (milky liquid)
· Part B: Liquid hardener (milky liquid)
· Part C: Ceramic microspheres (concrete grey/tan)
· Mixed system produces a grey/tan polymer concrete.
· Optional Primer: CCS MVR Primer is recommended for moisture-vapor-prone substrates.
· Adhesive Paste (for precast panels): CCS Bonder Paste LWL
· Secondary containment in LNG terminals
· Trench linings for cryogenic and chemical resistance
· Precast panels for vertical insulation
· Light foot and cart traffic areas requiring thermal shock resistance
· Damp or moist substrates where fast, resilient overlays are required
· Mix Ratio: 100:44:96.7 by weight (A:B:C); use entire kit
· Mixing: Premix components, then combine with ceramic filler (Part C) using a low-speed mixer
· Application Method: Trowel, tamp, rod, or screed; follow with optional second troweling after 2 hours to release air
· Curing Time: Minimum 8 hours for foot traffic; full cure in 7 days at 73°F
· Pot Life: Approx. 4.5 hours for 1 quart batch
· Installation Temperature Range: Minimum 40°F
· Maximum Thickness: Approx. 2 inches per lift
· Coverage: Based on kit sizes (Part A + B = 7.93 gallons, Part C = 50 lbs); actual coverage depends on thickness and surface profile
· Surface Prep: Must be clean, sound, dry or damp; minimum 250 psi tensile strength; steel to SSPC SP 5
· UV Stability: Contains UV stabilizers; exterior applications suitable
· Fire Resistance: Non-flammable when mixed (ASTM D635)
· Thermal Conductivity: 0.043 Btu/hr/ft/°F at -260°F (excellent for cryogenic use)
· Mechanical Properties: Tensile Strength 2200 psi, Compressive Strength 1750 psi, Elongation 60%
· Chemical Resistance: Good against alkalis, limited against hydrocarbon solvents and acids
· Precast Panel Option: Available in 4' x 8' sizes, 0.75–1" thick for faster installation
· Slip Resistance: Sand broadcast option for heavy foot traffic
Limitations: Not suitable for heavy equipment traffic; avoid grades >1% as it may self-level
