Description
CCS Low Exotherm IR – Injection Resin for Large Void & Wide Crack Structural Epoxy Adhesive Pressure Injection.
This is a two-component, low-viscosity, low-exotherm (isothermic) structural epoxy resin used primarily for filling large voids, wide cracks, delaminations, honeycombs in concrete, and for grouting under steel plates in structural reinforcement. It is also suitable for grouting of load-bearing voids under equipment.
· Part A: Light amber epoxy resin (9.5 lbs/gal; 550 cp viscosity)
· Part B: Dark purple hardener (8.7 lbs/gal; 70 cp viscosity)
· Mixed product: Dark purple (9.0 lbs/gal; 250 cp viscosity)
· Mix ratio: 2:1 by volume (100:46 by weight)
· Structural repair and reinforcement involving large-scale voids or cracks (>¼ inch) in concrete and masonry.
· Suitable for bonding in dry, damp, wet, and even underwater conditions.
· Grouting steel plates for external reinforcement and filling annular spaces.
· Recommended for pre-packing voids with aggregate to improve modulus and control exotherm.
· Installation temperature: ≥ 40°F (4.4°C)
· Pot life (gel time): ~2.25 hours (1 quart at 73°F)
· Cure time: Modified—Full cure at 28 days at 75°F
· Coverage: Dependent on void volume; prepacking with aggregate is advised for large cavities
· Thickness: For layers >¼" (6.35 mm), aggregate must be added to avoid exothermic stress
· Limitations:
o Not for hairline cracks (<2 mils): use CCS Low Viscosity IR
o Not for ambient temperatures >90°F: use CCS HiAmb IR
o Not UV stable—indoor/subsurface use recommended
· Substrates: Concrete, masonry, stone, steel, wood, CFRP
· Surface prep: ICRI CSP 2–4 profile; remove bond inhibitors; for steel, clean to “white metal” SSPC-SP 5/NACE No. 1
· Standards met: ASTM C881, AASHTO M235 (Type I, II, IV, Grade 1, Class C), ACI 548.15-20, ICRI 210.1R
· Compressive Strength: 10,200 psi
· Bond Strength to moist concrete: Up to 3,700 psi (14-day cure)
· Flexural Strength: 8,500 psi
· Heat Deflection Temperature: 108°F (Service temp should remain 20°F below HDT under load)
· Chemical Resistance: Excellent against acids, bases, fuels, oils (limited vs. hydrocarbon solvents)
· Shelf Life: 3 years (unopened, 60–90°F, avoid freezing)
· Safety Ratings:
o Part A: HMIS 2 – Moderate hazard
Part B: HMIS 3 – Serious hazard; caustic amines, corrosive
