Description

Material Use:

CCS Utility Coating is a two-component, flexible epoxy coating designed for economical surfacing with chemical resistance. It is suitable for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic surfaces when seeded or blended with aggregate. It can also be used for bonding precast concrete curbing to concrete and asphalt pavements.

System Components:

This is a two-part system with a 1:1 mix ratio by volume between Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener). It is designed for single-coat applications but can be layered with an aggregate for enhanced surface durability and slip resistance.

Applications:

·         Surface coating for asphalt and concrete pavements

·         Steel deck coatings

·         Bonding agent for precast concrete elements

·         Suitable for areas exposed to jet fuel, gasoline, antifreeze, battery acid, and select hydraulic fluids

Application Details:

·         Mix Ratio: 1:1 by volume (100:79 by weight)

·         Pot Life (Gel Time): ~15 minutes for a 200 g mix at 73°F

·         Recommended Application Temperature: Minimum of 50°F; apply after substrate reaches peak daily temperature

·         Curing: Tack-free in 3–6 hours at 70°F; full cure details not specified but properties tested after 7 days at 73°F

·         Application Method:

o        First coat: 105 sq ft/gal (~15 mils) with 3/8" nap roller or squeegee

o        Second coat: 64 sq ft/gal (~25 mils) with V-notch trowel or squeegee; back-roll recommended

o        Aggregate (if used): Broadcast within 15 minutes at 1.25–1.75 lb/sq ft (#6x12 or #8x16 mesh)

·         Thickness & Coverage:

o        At 40 mils: ~40 sq ft/gal

o        At 50 mils: ~32–27 sq ft/gal

o        At 65 mils: ~25 sq ft/gal

Special Notes:

·         UV Resistance: The cured coating does not embrittle under direct sunlight

·         Environmental Conditions: Substrates must be dry; avoid hydrostatic pressure and ensure vapor barriers on below-grade concrete

·         Not Recommended For: Continuous exposure to gasohol and heavy-duty brake fluid (polyether glycol based)

·         Shelf Life: Minimum three years in original, unopened containers stored between 60–90°F

·         Colors Available: Concrete gray (blue-gray) and black; custom colors available

Toxicity and Handling: Moderate hazard; use appropriate personal protective equipment and ventilation during application.
