Description

Material Use:

CCS Utility Coating LV is a flexible, two-component, low-viscosity epoxy coating designed for economical surfacing applications. It offers excellent chemical resistance and durability for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic surfaces and is suitable for use on asphalt, concrete, and steel decks.

System Components:

The system consists of Part A (liquid epoxy resin) and Part B (epoxy hardener) mixed at a 1:1 ratio by volume. When additional skid resistance or wear is needed, the coating can be seeded or blended with aggregate (#6 x 12 or #8 x 16 mesh). No specific primers are mentioned, but proper surface preparation is essential.

Applications:

·         Protective coating for concrete and asphalt pavements

·         Slip/skid-resistant surfacing for pedestrian and vehicular areas

·         Bonding of precast concrete curbing to pavements

·         Chemical-resistant coating for environments exposed to automotive and aircraft fluids

Application Details:

·         Surface Preparation: Concrete should be prepared per ASTM D4259 or ACI 503R with a minimum tensile strength of 250 psi. Steel must be cleaned to "white metal" (SSPC SP 5).

·         Installation: Mixed material should be applied with a 3/8" nap roller or squeegee.

o        First coat: 105 sq ft/gal at 15 mils

o        Second coat: 64 sq ft/gal at 25 mils

o        Aggregate: Broadcast within 15 minutes at 1.25–1.75 lb/sq ft

·         Pot Life/Gel Time: 39 minutes for 200 g mass at 73°F

·         Tack-Free Time: 3–6 hours @ 70°F

·         Full Cure Time: 7 days @ 73°F

·         Coverage Rates by Thickness:

o        15 mils: 105 sq ft/gal

o        20 mils: 80 sq ft/gal

o        25 mils: 64 sq ft/gal

o        30 mils: 53 sq ft/gal

o        40 mils: 40 sq ft/gal

Special Notes:

·         Not UV stable, though it does not embrittle under sunlight.

·         Must be applied above 50°F after substrate temperature has peaked.

·         Substrates must be dry; moisture or hydrostatic pressure can cause blistering or delamination.

·         Vapor barrier required for on-grade or below-grade concrete.

·         Environmentally safe, contains no VOC solvents.

·         Not suitable for prolonged exposure to gasohol or heavy-duty brake fluids.

·         Store between 60–90°F in original containers for up to 3 years.

This material is well-suited for industrial and infrastructure projects requiring robust, flexible, and chemically resistant surfacing, especially in areas exposed to harsh vehicular or aircraft-related substances.
