Description
Thermofusible waterproofing membrane composed of SBS modified bitumen and a non-woven polyester reinforcement used on concrete foundation walls, plaza decks and other below-grade concrete walls in horizontal or vertical applications.
ITEMS PER SKID:
Depends on length:
10m - 30
12m - 25
Material Use:
COLPHENE FLAM 180 is a high-performance waterproofing membrane designed for use in below-grade and foundation waterproofing applications. It is particularly suitable for concrete substrates in both horizontal and vertical installations, such as foundation walls, plaza decks, and other sub-structural elements requiring robust moisture protection.
System Components:
COLPHENE FLAM 180 is composed of SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) modified bitumen reinforced with a non-woven polyester mat. Both the top and bottom surfaces are covered with a thermofusible plastic film, allowing for heat-welded installation. This membrane is typically used in conjunction with ELASTOCOL 350 or ELASTOCOL 500 primers, which are essential for proper adhesion to the concrete substrate. The system includes:
- Primer: ELASTOCOL 350 or ELASTOCOL 500
- Base/Waterproofing Membrane: COLPHENE FLAM 180
Applications:
This membrane is ideal for waterproofing concrete foundations, below-grade walls, and plaza decks. It is designed for use in both vertical and horizontal applications where long-term waterproofing performance is critical. It also offers resistance to radon and methane gas transmission, making it suitable for environmentally sensitive or high-risk areas.
Application Details:
COLPHENE FLAM 180 must be installed over a clean, sound, and dry concrete substrate that has been cured for a minimum of 14 days. The surface must be primed with ELASTOCOL 350 or ELASTOCOL 500 prior to membrane application. The membrane is applied using a propane torch to heat-weld the thermofusible plastic film, ensuring a continuous and secure bond. The product features a 75 mm (3 in) selvedge edge to facilitate overlapping and sealing between rolls.
Special Notes:
- Installation Temperature Range: Not explicitly stated, but torch-applied membranes are typically installed in dry conditions above 5 °C (41 °F).
- Humidity Limitations: Substrate must be dry; moisture or contaminants can compromise adhesion and performance.
- Curing Time: As a heat-welded membrane, it achieves full adhesion upon cooling after torching.
- UV Resistance: Not UV stable; must be protected if exposed to sunlight for extended periods.
- Thickness: 3.0 mm (120 mils) nominal
- Coverage: Each roll covers approximately 10–12 m² (107–129 ft²), depending on roll size and overlap.
- Storage: Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top and protected from UV exposure if stored outdoors.
Performance Characteristics:
- Tensile Strength: 17 kN/m (MD), 12.5 kN/m (XD)
- Elongation: 60% (MD), 65% (XD)
- Tear Resistance: 60 N
- Puncture Resistance: 400 N
- Cold Flexibility: No cracking at -30 °C (-22 °F)
- Plastic Flow Resistance: 105 °C (221 °F)
- Water Vapour Permeance: < 2.5 ng/Pa·s·m² (< 0.04 perm)
- Hydrostatic Head Resistance: > 110 m (> 360 ft)
- Radon Resistance: 6.21 times greater than standard 6 mil polyethylene
- Methane Permeability: 1.26 L/day·m²·atm
COLPHENE FLAM 180 is a durable, high-performance membrane that forms part of a complete waterproofing system when used with compatible primers. It is especially effective in demanding below-grade applications where resistance to water, gases, and environmental stress is required.
