Description
COLPHENE LM BARR Spray is a single-component, liquid-applied, moisture curing elastomeric STPE waterproofing membrane.
UNITS PER SKID:
19L - 36
189L - 4
Material Use:
COLPHENE LM BARR SPRAY is a high-performance, single-component, spray-applied waterproofing membrane designed for both below-grade and above-grade applications. It is primarily used for waterproofing foundations, plaza decks, planter boxes, and other structural elements requiring a durable, elastomeric barrier. The product is based on STPE (Silyl Terminated Polyether) technology and cures through moisture exposure, forming a seamless, flexible, and highly adhesive membrane.
System Components:
The COLPHENE LM BARR SPRAY system includes the following components:
- Base Membrane: COLPHENE LM BARR SPRAY (applied in multiple layers depending on application)
- Reinforcement Fabric: POLYFLEECE (mandatory for all detail areas and full surface on horizontal applications)
- Detailing and Repair Material: COLPHENE BARR FLASHING (used to fill joints, fasteners, and surface defects prior to membrane application)
Applications:
This system is suitable for:
- Below-grade waterproofing of concrete foundations and retaining walls
- Waterproofing of plaza decks and planter boxes
- Positive-side waterproofing in wells and other underground structures
- Green concrete applications (3–7 days old) with proper surface preparation
Application Details:
- Surface Preparation: Substrates must be clean, dry to the touch, and free of contaminants. Green concrete is acceptable with a minimum 3-day cure. A 180° peel test is recommended to confirm adhesion.
- Application Method: Spray-applied using high-pressure equipment (6,750–7,250 psi) with a 0.031–0.041 in tip. Maintain a 90° spray angle and overlap passes to ensure uniform coverage.
- Layering and Thickness:
- Vertical Surfaces:
- Unreinforced: 2 layers of 0.8 mm (30 mils) = 1.5 mm (60 mils) total
- Reinforced: 2 layers of 1.5 mm (60 mils) = 3.0 mm (120 mils) total
- Horizontal Surfaces (Reinforced Only): 2 layers of 1.5 mm (60 mils) = 3.0 mm (120 mils) total
- Detail Areas: Two layers of 1.5 mm (60 mils) with POLYFLEECE reinforcement
- Coverage Rates:
- 1.5 mm (60 mils): ~27 ft²/US gal
- 3.0 mm (120 mils): ~13.5 ft²/US gal
- Curing Times:
- Dry to touch: ~60 minutes at 21°C (70°F), 50% RH
- Ready for protection or backfill: 24 hours
- Recoat window: within 72 hours; if exceeded, clean with xylene and overlap by 6 inches
- Environmental Conditions:
- Application temperature: 2°C to 35°C (35°F to 95°F) for ambient and material; substrate up to 48.9°C (120°F)
- Avoid application if rain is expected within 2 hours
- Ensure substrate and material are above dew point to prevent condensation
- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-component, moisture-cured)
- UV Resistance: Not UV stable; must be protected within 90 days of exposure
- Protection: Requires a protection course before backfill or overburden installation
Special Notes:
- POLYFLEECE reinforcement is mandatory for all horizontal surfaces and detail areas, and may be required on vertical surfaces depending on project specifications.
- For plaza decks, extend the membrane 203 mm (8") above the overburden on vertical surfaces.
- Avoid applying layers thicker than 1.5 mm (60 mils) on vertical surfaces in a single pass to prevent streaking. For 3.0 mm (120 mils) thickness, apply four layers of 0.75 mm (30 mils) each.
- Store material in original containers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Shelf life is 12 months at 21°C (70°F) and 50% RH.
- Clean equipment immediately after use with mineral spirits, xylene, or similar solvents. Cured material is difficult to remove.
This system provides a robust, flexible, and seamless waterproofing solution for demanding construction environments, particularly where complex detailing and substrate movement are expected.
