Description

High performance adhered base sheet membrane composed of SBS modified bitumen and a composite reinforcement.

UNITS PER SKID: 36

Material Use:

COLPLY BASE 410 is a high-performance SBS-modified bitumen base sheet membrane designed for use in multi-layer roofing systems. It serves as the base ply in a cold- or hot-applied roofing system, providing excellent mechanical strength, flexibility, and waterproofing performance. It is suitable for use in both new construction and roof replacement projects.

System Components:

COLPLY BASE 410 is typically used as part of a multi-layer SBS-modified bitumen roofing system. It can be installed using either cold adhesive (such as COLPLY ADHESIVE) or hot-applied SEBS bitumen (SOPRASPHALTE M). For installations in temperatures below 0°C (32°F), it is recommended to use COLPLY BASE 410 FLEX, a more flexible variant of the base sheet. The system may also include a compatible SBS-modified bitumen cap sheet as the final layer, depending on the specific project requirements.

Applications:

This membrane is used in commercial and industrial roofing systems where a durable, flexible, and waterproof base layer is required. It is suitable for use on flat or low-slope roofs and can be applied over various substrates, including insulation boards and concrete decks, as part of a built-up or modified bitumen roofing system.

Application Details:

COLPLY BASE 410 can be installed using two primary methods:

- Cold Adhesive Application: The membrane is unrolled onto a previously applied cold adhesive using a notched squeegee. End laps (100–125 mm or 4–5 in) must be treated with additional adhesive and welded using a hot-air welder. Side laps must also be welded, and the use of an automatic hot-air welder is recommended for improved speed and quality.

- Hot Bitumen Application: The membrane is embedded into a bed of SEBS hot bitumen (SOPRASPHALTE M) applied with a mop.

Special Notes:

- Temperature Limitations: For cold adhesive applications below 0°C (32°F), use COLPLY BASE 410 FLEX for improved flexibility and ease of installation.

- Storage: Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top. If stored outdoors, they must be covered with an opaque protective cover.

- UV Resistance: As a base sheet, COLPLY BASE 410 is not UV stable and must be covered with a UV-resistant cap sheet or protective layer.

- Thickness: Minimum thickness is 2.5 mm (98 mils), with a selvedge thickness also at 2.5 mm.

- Coverage: Each roll covers approximately 10 m² (107.6 ft²), with dimensions of 10 m x 1 m (33 ft x 3.3 ft).

- Reinforcement: Composite reinforcement provides excellent dimensional stability and mechanical strength.

- Flexibility: Maintains flexibility down to -27°C (-17°F), making it suitable for cold climates.

- Water Vapour Transmission: Very low permeability (< 2.5 ng/Pa•s•m²), contributing to its waterproofing performance.

- Puncture Resistance: Passes standard puncture resistance tests, ensuring durability under mechanical stress.

COLPLY BASE 410 is a robust and versatile base sheet membrane that forms a critical component of SOPREMA’s SBS-modified bitumen roofing systems. It must be used in conjunction with compatible adhesives and cap sheets to ensure long-term performance and weather resistance.
