COLPLY EF is a high-performance, odourless, polyether-based adhesive designed for adhering SBS-modified bituminous membranes on low-slope roofing surfaces (less than 3% or 3/8 inch per foot). It is specifically formulated for use in roofing systems where solvent-free, low-VOC, and environmentally friendly adhesives are required. For vertical or steep slope applications (greater than 3%), COLPLY EF FLASHING should be used instead.

COLPLY EF is used as part of a multi-layer SBS-modified bitumen roofing system. It is typically applied between a base sheet and a cap sheet membrane. It is compatible with sanded surfaces, coverboards, insulation boards, and granulated surfaces. However, it must not be used in combination with ELASTOCOL 500 primer. The system may include SBS base sheets and SBS cap sheets, which must be installed on the same day to prevent moisture entrapment.

This adhesive is ideal for commercial and industrial low-slope roofing systems where odour sensitivity is a concern, such as schools, hospitals, and occupied buildings. It is suitable for adhering membranes to various substrates including sanded surfaces, insulation boards, and granulated surfaces. It can also be used in systems that incorporate gravel surfacing.

COLPLY EF is applied using a notched squeegee (either 4.8 mm [3/16 in] or 6.0 mm [1/4 in]) to ensure a uniform coat. The minimum application temperature is 0 °C (32 °F). Coverage rates vary depending on the substrate:

- Sanded surfaces, coverboard, insulation board: 2.0 to 3.0 US Gal/100 ft² (0.8 to 1.2 L/m²)

- Granulated surfaces: 3.0 to 4.0 US Gal/100 ft² (1.2 to 1.6 L/m²)

- Adhesive and gravel: 4.0 to 5.0 US Gal/100 ft² (1.6 to 2.0 L/m²)

- Curing Time: Approximately 7 days under ideal conditions (25 °C / 77 °F and 50% RH). Curing time increases with lower temperatures or higher humidity.

- Pot Life: Not specified, but as a single-component adhesive, it remains usable as long as it is kept sealed and uncontaminated.

- Storage: Store in original sealed containers between 5 °C and 40 °C (41 °F to 104 °F), away from heat and direct sunlight. Shelf life is up to 9 months.

- VOC Content: Very low at 31 g/L, making it suitable for use in environmentally sensitive projects.

- UV Resistance: Not UV stable; must be protected by a cap sheet or other UV-resistant membrane.

- Thickness Limits: Not specified in mils, but coverage rates imply a moderate film build depending on substrate porosity.

- Cleaning: Tools and uncured adhesive can be cleaned with mineral spirits, Varsol, or Xylene.

- Compatibility: Do not use with ELASTOCOL 500 primer. Ensure compatibility with other SOPREMA SBS membranes and accessories.
