Description

Polyether-based adhesive for SBS modified bitumen membranes on flashings and slope surfaces (> 3%).

UNITS PER SKID: 36

Material Use:

COLPLY EF Flashing Cement is a high-performance, odourless, polyether-based adhesive specifically designed for adhering SBS-modified bituminous membranes on vertical flashings and sloped surfaces greater than 3% (3/8 inch per foot). It is part of SOPREMA’s roofing system solutions and is intended for use in waterproofing and roofing applications where strong adhesion and flexibility are required.

System Components:

COLPLY EF Flashing Cement is used in conjunction with SBS-modified bituminous membranes. It is not compatible with ELASTOCOL 500 primer and should not be used in combination with it. For low-slope surfaces (less than 3%), SOPREMA recommends using COLPLY EF adhesive (not the Flashing Cement version). The system typically includes a base sheet membrane and a cap sheet membrane, which should be installed on the same day to prevent moisture accumulation on sanded surfaces.

Applications:

This adhesive is ideal for vertical and sloped flashing applications in roofing systems, particularly where SBS-modified bitumen membranes are used. It is suitable for use on sanded surfaces, coverboards, insulation boards, and granulated surfaces. It is not intended for use on flat or low-slope surfaces, where a different adhesive (COLPLY EF) is recommended.

Application Details:

COLPLY EF Flashing Cement should be applied using a notched trowel (4.8 mm [3/16 in] or 6.0 mm [1/4 in]) to ensure a uniform coat. The minimum application temperature is 0 °C (32 °F). Coverage rates vary depending on the substrate:

- Sanded surfaces, coverboard, insulation board, CSP 3: 2.0 to 3.0 US gallons per 100 ft² (0.8 to 1.2 L/m²)

- Granulated surfaces: 3.0 to 4.0 US gallons per 100 ft² (1.2 to 1.6 L/m²)

Special Notes:

- Curing Time: Approximately 7 days under ideal conditions (25 °C / 77 °F and 50% relative humidity). Curing time may be longer at lower temperatures or with thicker applications.

- Pot Life: Not specified, but as a single-component adhesive, it remains usable as long as it is stored properly and not cured.

- Storage Conditions: Store in original sealed containers between 5 °C and 40 °C (41 °F to 104 °F), in a ventilated area away from heat and direct sunlight. Shelf life is up to 6 months.

- VOC Content: Very low, at 15 g/L, making it suitable for use in low-emission environments.

- Solids Content: Greater than 99% by weight, ensuring minimal shrinkage and high build.

- UV Resistance: Not specified; typically, flashing adhesives are protected by the membrane and not exposed directly to UV.

- Cleaning: Tools and uncured adhesive can be cleaned with mineral spirits, Varsol, or Xylene.

- Restrictions: Do not use with ELASTOCOL 500 primer. Always consult the latest SOPREMA Roofer’s Guide or a SOPREMA representative for detailed application methods and compatibility.

This material is a key component in SOPREMA’s SBS-modified bitumen roofing systems, particularly for detailing and flashing work on sloped or vertical surfaces.
