Description
COLPLY FLASHING is a SBS modified bitumen based adhesive.
UNITS PER SKID:
10 l - 60
19 L - 36
Material Use:
COLPLY FLASHING is a solvent-based, SBS-modified bitumen adhesive specifically designed for adhering SBS-modified bituminous membranes on vertical flashings and sloped surfaces greater than 3% (3/8 inch per foot). It is formulated for use in roofing applications where enhanced adhesion and flexibility are required, particularly in areas subject to movement or where vertical or steep slope bonding is necessary.
System Components:
COLPLY FLASHING is typically used as part of a multi-layer SBS-modified bitumen roofing system. It is compatible with other SOPREMA SBS membranes and is used in conjunction with base and cap sheets. For low-slope applications (less than 3%), SOPREMA recommends using standard COLPLY adhesive instead of COLPLY FLASHING. This product is not a standalone waterproofing membrane but functions as a bonding agent within a larger system.
Applications:
COLPLY FLASHING is used in roofing systems for adhering SBS-modified bitumen membranes to vertical surfaces (flashings) and sloped substrates exceeding 3%. It is suitable for use over various substrates including sanded surfaces, coverboards, insulation boards, and granulated surfaces. It is ideal for detailing work around penetrations, parapets, and other vertical transitions in roofing assemblies.
Application Details:
The adhesive is applied using a notched trowel (4.8 mm or 6.0 mm / 3/16 in or 1/4 in) to ensure a uniform coat. The recommended coverage rate varies depending on the substrate:
- Sanded surfaces, coverboard, insulation board, CSP 3: 2.0 to 3.0 US gallons per 100 ft² (0.8 to 1.2 L/m²)
- Granulated surfaces: 3.0 to 4.0 US gallons per 100 ft² (1.2 to 1.6 L/m²)
The minimum application temperature is 0 °C (32 °F). All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants such as oil, grease, and dust before application.
Special Notes:
- Curing Time: Full cure is achieved in approximately 30 days under ideal conditions (25 °C / 77 °F and 50% relative humidity). Lower temperatures or higher humidity will extend curing time.
- Pot Life: Not applicable as this is a solvent-based adhesive that does not require mixing.
- Storage Conditions: Store in original sealed containers between 5 °C and 40 °C (41 °F to 104 °F), away from heat and direct sunlight. Shelf life is up to 12 months.
- UV Resistance: As an adhesive, COLPLY FLASHING is not intended for UV exposure. It must be covered by a membrane or other protective layer.
- Thickness Limits: Application thickness is controlled by trowel size and coverage rate; no specific wet mil thickness is provided, but uniform application is critical.
- Cleaning: Tools and uncured adhesive can be cleaned using mineral spirits, Varsol, or Xylene.
- Compliance: Meets and exceeds ASTM D3019 standards for lap adhesion (3.5 kN/m).
System Compatibility:
COLPLY FLASHING is designed to work with SOPREMA SBS-modified bitumen membranes and is part of a complete SOPREMA roofing system. It is not used with primers or topcoats but functions as a bonding layer between membranes and substrates in flashing and sloped areas. For horizontal or low-slope applications, use standard COLPLY adhesive instead.
