ConFlex XL Smooth High Build Acrylic Coating

ConFlex XL™ High Build Acrylic Coating is a water proofing coating designed for masonry and concrete surfaces. The thick, elastic film covers, hides and protects for long-lasting durability. ConFlex XL™ is designed to withstand even the toughest of rains. It also conveniently comes in a variety of custom colors which are perfect for new and old masonry surfaces. This coating is easy to apply and comes in smooth and 3 textured finishes.

ConFlex XL is a high-build, 100% acrylic elastomeric coating designed for exterior vertical surfaces such as tilt-up, precast, poured-in-place concrete, CMU, brick, and stucco. It offers superior flexibility, weather resistance, and protection against wind-driven rain, making it suitable for waterproofing applications on above-grade wall assemblies.

System Components

This material is part of a system that includes the following:

• Primer Options:
• Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer for bare concrete/stucco
• Loxon Conditioner for previously coated surfaces
• Loxon Acrylic Block Surfacer or ConFlex Block Filler for porous CMU/block surfaces
• Base Coat / Intermediate Filler (as needed):
• Elastomeric patch or sealant for cracks and openings
• Backer rod for deep joints
• Topcoat:
• 1–2 coats of ConFlex XL applied per system type and substrate condition

Applications

Ideal for:

• New and existing vertical masonry surfaces
• CMU, brick, stucco, concrete block
• Precast or poured-in-place concrete walls
• Exterior use only

Not suitable for:

• Horizontal surfaces (e.g., floors, decks, roofs)
• Overhead horizontal surfaces (e.g., soffits, balcony undersides)
• Below-grade applications

Application Details

• System Options:
• 2-Coat System (Brush/Roller/Spray):
  Coverage: 100–125 sq. ft./gal
  Wet film thickness: 13–16 mils
  Dry film thickness: 6–7.5 mils
• 1-Coat System (Spray only):
  Coverage: 50–60 sq. ft./gal
  Wet film thickness: 26–32 mils
  Dry film thickness: 12–15 mils
• Maximum wet mils per coat: 40 mils
• Dry Time at 77°F / 50% RH:
• Touch dry: 4 hours
• Recoat: 24 hours
  (Drying time varies with temperature, humidity, and thickness.)
• Surface Preparation:
• Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of contaminants
• Remove mildew, chalk, dust, and form release agents
• Cure new surfaces for 30 days or prime after 7 days if needed
• pH of concrete/mortar must be <10
• Crack Repair Guidelines:
• ≤1/32”: Prime + topcoat
• 1/32"–1/16": Use elastomeric patch/sealant
• 1/16"–3/8": Open, clean, seal with backer rod + patch
• Application Methods:
• Brush: Nylon/polyester
• Roller: ½"–1½" synthetic nap
• Spray: Airless, 2300 psi, tip 0.021"
• Avoid over-brushing/rolling (can cause air bubbles)
• Recommended: Backrolling spray application and stripe coating edges/corners

Special Notes

• Environmental Limits:
  • Application temperature: 50–100°F
  • Not for use where water will pool or on below-grade surfaces
  • Protect from freezing during storage
  • Shelf life: 36 months unopened
