Material Use:
DUOTACK SPF HFO ADHESIVE is a low-rise, two-component, sprayable polyurethane foam adhesive designed specifically for bonding fleece-backed PVC roofing membranes, such as SOPREMA’s SENTINEL HFB. It is formulated with a hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) blowing agent, which enhances environmental performance and application efficiency. This adhesive is ideal for commercial roofing systems where a strong, uniform bond is required between the membrane and the substrate.
System Components:
DUOTACK SPF HFO ADHESIVE is a two-part system consisting of:
- Part A: Polymeric isocyanate (amber to dark brown in color)
- Part B: Proprietary polyol blend (clear in color)
The adhesive is supplied with a 7.62 m (25 ft) hose and an application gun with replacement nozzles. It is used as part of a system with fleece-backed PVC membranes, such as SENTINEL HFB, and does not require a separate primer.
Applications:
This adhesive is used in roofing applications to bond fleece-backed PVC membranes to approved substrates. It is suitable for use in commercial and industrial flat roofing systems where a spray-applied adhesive is preferred for speed and uniformity of application.
Application Details:
- Surface Preparation: Substrates must be clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, dirt, or debris.
- Application Method: Spray the adhesive from a height of 0.9–1.2 m (3–4 ft) above the substrate to achieve 55%–65% surface coverage.
- Membrane Installation: The membrane must be placed immediately after spraying, broomed into the adhesive, and rolled with a 150 lb roller to ensure full contact.
- Set Time: 1 to 10 minutes depending on ambient conditions.
- Tack-Free Time: 10 to 30 minutes.
- Curing Time: 24 hours.
- Coverage: One kit covers approximately 278.7 m² (3,000 ft²) at a thickness of 6.3 mm to 12.7 mm (1/4 to 1/2 inch).
- Cleaning: Uncured adhesive can be cleaned with mineral spirits, Varsol, or xylene.
Special Notes:
- Temperature Requirements: Application temperature must be between 21 °C and 29 °C (70 °F and 85 °F). Product conditioning may take up to 24 hours. A temperature strip on the Part B container indicates readiness.
- Storage: Store between 13 °C and 27 °C (55 °F and 80 °F) in a dry, ventilated area away from heat and sunlight. Do not freeze. Shelf life is approximately 12 months when stored properly.
- Environmental Considerations: Contains low VOCs (95 g/L) and uses an HFO blowing agent for reduced environmental impact.
- Limitations: Non-compliance with temperature and handling instructions may result in product degradation or equipment failure.
- UV Stability: Not applicable, as the adhesive is used beneath the membrane and is not exposed to UV light.
- Thickness Limits: Effective at 6.3 mm to 12.7 mm (1/4 to 1/2 inch) thickness in splatter pattern.
- Pot Life: Not explicitly stated, but open time is influenced by ambient and substrate temperatures.
This adhesive is a key component in SOPREMA’s fleece-backed PVC roofing systems and should be used in accordance with manufacturer guidelines to ensure optimal performance and durability.
