Description

Pro Industrial™ Epoxy Ester Dryfall is a single coat material for interior ceilings and overhead surfaces such as steel joists, support steel, and ductwork. Pro Industrial™ Epoxy Ester Dryfall is a premium coating that will fall dry in 10 feet under normal environmental conditions (77°F, 50% relative humidity).

Material Use:

Epoxy Ester Dry Fall Primer & Finish is a high-performance, single-component coating designed for interior ceilings and overhead surfaces. It functions both as a primer and a finish coat, offering excellent adhesion and dry fall properties. The product is ideal for use on steel joists, support steel, ductwork, and other overhead substrates in commercial, industrial, and institutional environments. It is specifically formulated to dry into a dust-like fall-out within 10 feet under standard conditions, minimizing cleanup and overspray issues.

System Components:

This product can be used as a standalone system or in combination with other Sherwin-Williams primers and fillers depending on the substrate:

- For bare steel: 1 coat of Kem Bond HS Primer (2–5 mils DFT) followed by 1–2 coats of Epoxy Ester Dry Fall (2–4 mils DFT per coat).

- For aluminum and galvanized steel: Self-priming with 1–2 coats of Epoxy Ester Dry Fall (2–4 mils DFT per coat).

- For interior concrete block (CMU): 1 coat of Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler (10 mils DFT) followed by 1–2 coats of Epoxy Ester Dry Fall (2–4 mils DFT per coat).

Applications:

This coating is recommended for use in:

- Warehouses

- Manufacturing facilities

- Textile mills

- Gymnasiums

- Parking garage ceilings (not exposed to direct weathering)

- Commercial and institutional buildings

It is suitable for interior galvanized steel, properly primed steel, pre-primed roof decks, concrete block, and aluminum. It may also be used on exterior overhead surfaces that are not subject to direct weathering.

Application Details:

- Application Method: Airless or conventional spray only. Brush and roller application are not recommended.

- Airless Spray: Minimum 2500 psi, 3/8" I.D. hose, 0.021" tip, 60–80 mesh filter.

- Conventional Spray: Binks 18 gun, 63C fluid nozzle, 63PB air nozzle, 60 psi atomization pressure, 50 psi fluid pressure.

- No reducer is necessary or recommended.

- Apply at 4.0–8.0 wet mils per coat, resulting in 2.0–4.0 dry mils.

- Coverage: Approximately 200–300 sq. ft. per gallon at 2 mils dry film thickness.

- Dry Fall: Dusts out within 10 feet under standard conditions (77°F, 50% RH).

- Recoat Time (self): 12 hours

- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-component)

- Dry to Touch: 20 minutes

- Tack-Free: 35 minutes

- Full Cure: Not explicitly stated; allow at least 12 hours before recoating.

Environmental & Application Limitations:

- Temperature Range: Minimum 50°F (10°C), Maximum 120°F (49°C); must be at least 5°F above dew point.

- Relative Humidity: Maximum 85%

- Dry fall characteristics are adversely affected below 77°F or above 50% RH.

- Not suitable for exterior surfaces exposed to direct weathering.

- Not UV stable; intended for interior use only.

- VOC: 379 g/L (3.17 lbs/gal)

- Volume Solids: 51 ±2%

- Shelf Life: 12 months (unopened)

Special Notes:

- This product is for professional use only.

- Overspray may adhere to hot surfaces; clean immediately to prevent permanent adhesion.

- Tinting is possible with up to 2 oz per gallon using BAC colorants; mix thoroughly for uniform color.

- Surfaces must be properly prepared and cleaned before application. For steel, a primer is required. For aluminum and galvanized steel, the product is self-priming. For CMU, a block filler is required.

- Factory-finished metal decking may require adhesion testing and surface preparation before coating.

- Not compliant with all environmental regulations (e.g., SCAQMD, LEED v4 emissions); check local compliance requirements.

This product is best suited for interior overhead applications where dry fall characteristics are essential to minimize cleanup and overspray. It can be used as part of a system with appropriate primers and fillers depending on the substrate, offering flexibility and efficiency in commercial and industrial ceiling coating projects.
