Description

Injection Seal - Extremely Short Working Time for Sealing of Cracks Prior to Injection

Material Use:

KEMKO 022 SuperSEAL is a two-component, non-sag epoxy paste designed for sealing cracks and delaminations in concrete, masonry, stone, steel, and wood as a preparatory step for pressure injection. It is intended for use in the KIP (KEMKO Injection Process) system. This material is suitable for both dry and damp substrates and performs effectively in cool and cold conditions. It complies with ACI 548.15-20 and ICRI guidelines for epoxy crack repair.

System Components:

·      Base and Curing Agents: Supplied as Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener) in a 1:1 mix ratio by volume.

·      System Use: Typically followed by pressure injection grouting using the KIP System.

·      Aggregate Extension: Can be extended with washed, kiln-dried sand for increased volume or to create patching mortar.

Applications:

·      Rapid sealing of cracks before epoxy injection.

·      Used in civil and structural repair where quick surface sealing is essential.

·      Suitable for vertical and overhead crack sealing due to non-sag formulation.

·      Compatible with injection repair systems on concrete infrastructure, including bridges, decks, and industrial floors.

Application Details:

·      Mix Ratio: 1:1 by volume (100:100 by weight).

·      Pot Life (Gel Time): ~7 minutes at 73°F (23°C); ~18 minutes at 40°F (4°C) for 100 g mass.

·      Curing Time: Initial set suitable for injection after fast curing. Full cure depends on temperature but rapid set supports prompt follow-up procedures.

·      Installation Temp Range: Minimum substrate temp: 40°F (4°C).

·      Application Thickness: Non-sag up to 1/8 inch (3.18 mm).

·      Bond Line Thickness: Minimum 15 mils (plastic to hardened concrete), minimum 4 mils over peaks for other surfaces.

·      Coverage (Volume Yield): 1 gallon = 231 in³; extendable to ~500 in³ with up to 2 gallons aggregate.

Special Notes:

·      UV Resistance: Not specified; likely not UV-stable and intended for interior or covered use.

·      Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance to acids, bases, fuels, oils; limited to hydrocarbon solvents.

·      VOC Content: Zero-VOC formulation.

·      Shelf Life: Minimum 3 years in original containers stored at 50–90°F (10–32°C).

·      Color: Mixed color is concrete blue-gray for visibility during application.

·      Safety Precautions: Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener) both require careful handling due to health risks. Proper PPE, ventilation, and safe disposal practices are essential.

·      Surface Prep: Requires CSP 2 to CSP 4 profile per ICRI 310.215.6R; steel must be cleaned to SSPC-SP 5 / NACE No. 1 “white metal” standard.
