Description
Injection Resin - Structural Epoxy Adhesive for Pressure Injection
KEMKO 038 Regular IR – Injection Resin Structural Epoxy Adhesive. KEMKO 038 is a two-component, low-viscosity, structural epoxy resin and hardener system designed for pressure injection using the KEMKO Injection Process (KIP System). It is primarily used for the structural repair of cracks, delaminations, and voids in concrete, masonry, stone, and wood. It is also suitable for bonding steel plates, CFRP, and anchoring hardware like bolts and dowels.
· Part A: Clear Amber Liquid Epoxy Resin
· Part B: Dark Purple Epoxy Hardener
· Mixed Color: Dark Purple
· Mixing Ratio: 2:1 by volume (100:43 by weight)
· Structural crack and delamination repair in concrete, masonry, and wood
· Filling porous and honeycombed concrete or grout
· External reinforcement bonding with steel plates or CFRP
· Anchoring bolts, dowels, and rebar into concrete and stone
· Grouting tight load-bearing voids under equipment
· Suitable for dry, damp, wet, and underwater substrates
· Pot Life (Gel Time): ~14 minutes @ 73°F (23°C), 35 minutes @ 50°F (10°C)
· Installation Temperature Range: Minimum 40°F (4°C); for high temp use >90°F (32°C), consider KEMKO 030
· Installation Method: Pressure injection using KIP automatic meter/mix/dispense equipment
· Thickness Limit: Max application without aggregate: 1/4" (6.35 mm); beyond this, pre-placed aggregate required
· Coverage: Not explicitly listed in ft²/gal due to pressure injection nature; material is low viscosity (350 cps mixed) for crack penetration as narrow as 6 mil (0.051 mm)
· Viscosity at 73°F (23°C): ~350 cps; increases to 1400 cps at 50°F (10°C)
· Not UV stable – designed for internal or covered applications
· Cures to a tough, resilient polymer with high bond and compressive strength (Tensile: 10,200 psi, Compressive: 16,500 psi)
· Bond strength to moist-cured concrete after 14 days: 3,900 psi
· Shelf Life: 3 years in original containers (stored at 60–90°F)
· Chemical Resistance: Excellent against acids, bases, fuels, oils; limited against hydrocarbon solvents
· Surface Preparation: Requires CSP 2–4 per ICRI 310.2R for concrete; white metal blast (SSPC-SP5/NACE No.1) for steel
· Compatible Substrates: Concrete, masonry, stone, steel, wood, CFRP
· Not for use in open UV-exposed areas without topcoats or protection
System Integration Notes:
· For finer cracks: Consider KEMKO 068 LoVis IR
· For high-temperature environments: Consider KEMKO 030 HiAmb IR
· For larger voids: Use KEMKO 077
· For non-sealable cracks: Use KEMKO 050
These can be combined into systems for more complex repair conditions.
