Description

Short Pot Life Epoxy Liquid Adhesive for Bonding

Material Use:

KEMKO 040 is a two-component, solvent-free epoxy paste adhesive designed primarily for anchoring bolts, dowels, and rebar into concrete, masonry, or stone. It is also used for bonding rigid construction materials such as steel, stone, and concrete, including adhesive bonding of steel plates to concrete for external reinforcement.

System Components:

This grout consists of a resin (Part A) and a hardener (Part B) in a 1:1 mix ratio by volume. The mixed product forms a non-sag epoxy adhesive paste with high heat resistance and strong bonding characteristics.

Applications:

KEMKO 040 is suited for structural anchoring and bonding applications including:

·      Grouting dowels, bolts, and rebar

·      Bonding steel plates to concrete

·      General construction bonding for steel, concrete, stone, and masonry

·      Use in horizontal, vertical (downward), and overhead applications

Application Details:

·      Mixing Ratio: 1:1 by volume (100:140 by weight)

·      Pot Life: Approx. 120 minutes at 73°F, 30 minutes at 105°F

·      Installation Temperature: Minimum substrate temperature 60°F

·      Curing Time: Initial gel time is 2 hours at 73°F; full cure in 7 days

·      Thickness Limit: Non-sag up to 1/4 inch

·      Application Method: For dowels/rebar, inject using a caulking gun, fill 40% of the hole volume, insert and rotate the bar. For surface bonding, apply with a trowel ensuring full contact and remove excess before set.

·      Surface Conditions: Can be applied on dry, damp, or wet substrates (no standing water); concrete should meet a minimum tensile strength of 250 psi.

·      Coverage: Varies by application thickness and volume; not specified in Gal/ft due to paste form.

Special Notes:

·      UV Stability: Not specified; likely not UV stable due to epoxy base.

·      Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance to acids, bases, fuels, and automotive fluids; limited resistance to hydrocarbon solvents.

·      Heat Deflection Temperature: 145°F

·      Limitations: Not for use below 60°F or above 125°F service temperature. Avoid adding solvents.

·      Storage and Shelf Life: 3 years in unopened containers at 60–90°F, dry and out of sunlight.

·      Color: Standard mixed color is concrete gray (blue-gray); custom colors available.
