Epoxy Control Joint Filler and Traffic Loop

Material Use:

 A two-component, solvent-free epoxy resin/hardener system used as a flexible filler and sealant for saw-cut control joints, wire slots, and traffic loops. It is also effective for bonding precast concrete curbing and is compliant with ACI 302.1R guidelines for warehouse and industrial floors.

System Components:

 This system includes two components mixed in a 1:1 ratio by volume (Part A: epoxy resin; Part B: hardener). No primers are required. The product is designed for single pour, high-build applications without solvents or VOCs.

Applications:

 Ideal for sealing and embedding wire and traffic detection loops in concrete and asphalt pavements. It is also used for filling properly prepared saw-cut control joints in interior concrete slabs and bonding precast concrete curbs to concrete or asphalt.

Application Details:

·      Installation Temperature: Minimum substrate temperature is 40°F.

·      Surface Preparation: Must be clean and free of bond-inhibiting substances per ASTM D 4259 or ACI 503R.

·      Mixing: Mix Part A and B in 1:1 ratio by volume using a low-speed drill (350–750 rpm) with a Jiffy blade mixer for 2–3 minutes.

·      Pot Life: Approx. 16 minutes for 200 g at 73°F.

·      Curing Time: Initial cure is 18–36 hours at 40°F. Full cure property values based on 7 days at 73°F.

·      Coverage as Joint Filler:

o   1/2" x 1/4": ~154 ft/gal

o   1/2" x 3/8": ~102 ft/gal

o   3/4" x 3/8": ~68 ft/gal

o   3/4" x 1/2": ~51 ft/gal

o   1" x 3/4": ~25 ft/gal

·      Finish Options: Smooth or variable texture with aggregate broadcast.

·      Color: Standard is concrete gray. Black, white, and custom colors available.

Special Notes:

·      Not recommended for expansion joints or areas subject to significant movement due to non-elastomeric nature.

·      Exhibits excellent chemical resistance including to deicing chemicals, jet fuels, gasoline, antifreeze, and battery acid. Limited resistance to hydrocarbon solvents.

·      UV stable: does not embrittle with prolonged sunlight exposure.

·      Environmentally safe, no VOCs.

·      Shelf life is minimum three years in unopened containers stored between 60–90°F.

·      Cleanup should be done before curing with acetone or epoxy stripper.
