Description

Coating with Resistance to Industrial Chemicals

Material Use:

KEMKO 070 FlorWal Coat is a two-component, solvent-free epoxy resin coating system designed for chemical, abrasion, and slip-resistant applications. It serves as a protective and decorative surface for concrete, masonry, steel, wood, and stone substrates, including damp surfaces, providing excellent resistance against various industrial chemicals and mechanical wear.

System Components:

This product consists of Part A (epoxy resin) and Part B (hardener), mixed in a 2:1 volume ratio. It may be used in combination with broadcast aggregates to enhance texture and slip resistance. Application tools include stiff bristle brushes, rollers, squeegees, or two-component spray systems. No primers or additional base coats are required, but aggregates (e.g., #20x40 or #30x50 mesh) may be applied for surfacing finishes.

Applications:

Suitable for chemical plants, garages, industrial facilities, and environments exposed to automotive fluids and industrial chemicals. It may be used in both pedestrian and vehicular traffic areas.

Application Details:

·      Application Temperature: Minimum 50°F substrate temperature.

·      Curing Conditions: Cures at 50°F minimum. Recoat windows range from 8–72 hours @ 60°F, 4–24 hours @ 73°F, and 2–12 hours @ 90°F.

·      Pot Life: Approx. 35 minutes for a 200g batch at standard conditions.

·      Coating Thickness:

o   As a coating: 6–8 mils per coat, applied in two or more coats.

o   As a surfacing: 20–30 mils per coat.

·      Coverage:

o   Coating: 100–133 sq ft/gal for two coats.

o   Surfacing: 54–80 sq ft/gal depending on thickness and substrate porosity.

·      Surface Prep: Substrates must be clean and free from bond inhibitors; concrete must be sound and prepared per ASTM D 4259 or ACI 503R guidelines. Steel should be prepared to SSPC SP 5 (white metal).

Special Notes:

·      UV Resistance: Not UV stable; may chalk upon prolonged sunlight exposure.

·      Environmental Tolerance: Can bond to damp substrates; freeze-thaw resistant.

·      Storage: 3-year shelf life in sealed containers stored between 60–90°F.

·      Chemical Resistance: Withstands exposure to salt/fresh water, detergents, gasoline, oils, Skydrol, and weak acids/bases. Limited resistance to hydrocarbon solvents and hot water over 140°F.

·      Clean-up: Uncured material may be cleaned with acetone or similar solvents; cured material requires epoxy stripper.

·      Safety: Use protective gear; both components are irritants with potential allergenic and corrosive effects. Adequate ventilation is required during application.
